Very Nice Enclosure
- Pros: This is very well made enclosure - the fit and finish are top notch. Dis-assembly and installation are quick and easy (a #1 Philips screw driver is required). On the manufacture's site, they say this unit uses 48-bit LBA, meaning that it should take huge capacity drives, larger than any currently manufactured. The blue drive light is on the front of the case, has a very wide viewing angle, and is just the right brightness, unlike some other enclosures that have blindingly bright lights. The red anodized case is beautiful (that is why you looked at this case to begin with, isn't it?). There are screw holes in the internal PC board for fastening down your drive, making the whole assembly very rugged, but you will have to supply your own screws (perhaps from an old drive), A standard 2.5" x 9.5mm thick drive fits, but the old 12.5mm thick drives will not. The internal interface is SATA, so if you have an older PIDE drive you will need a different enclosure.
- Cons: Very minor stuff - the end panels look like metal in the pictures, but they are really chromed plastic. The drive rests on the ground plane of the internal PC board. This is not an issue for any of my drives, but if your drive has it's electronics placed flush with it's bottom then you will need to add a layer of packing tape for insulation. There are no "feet" on the bottom of the case, so if you want 'em, you will have to stick some on yourself.
- Other Thoughts: This is one of the nicest 2.5" enclosures I've seen. Well worth a few extra bucks, even if you don't care about the eSATA interface. The included USB cable is 24" long. If you buy a replacement cable with a 24 guage power pair, you should not need the two port cable.
Yay it works!
- Pros: It works with my 160 gb sata hard drive i originally bought for my ps3. My first ps3 died so i took out my hard drive and use it as a multimedia storage unit for pc and ps3 and 360....yay. Im just glad it works with my 160 gb. I didnt see anywhere for the max memory limit
- Cons: no external sata cable supplied :(
- Other Thoughts: I like the blue light
