4 out of 5 eggsVery Good Adapter

Pros: This was my main raw disk interface for over a year. It got a LOT of use. Bottom line: the thing WORKS, WELL. Connectors will fail under heavy use. They can be replaced

Cons: After a year or so, the SATA connector failed with a bent pin. I emailed Sharkoon in Taiwan, conversed with a tech, sent them a few pictures and they sent me a connector to replace the busted one. The replacement took maybe 15 minutes, and I have a new unit for another year or so.

Other Thoughts: Like all docking stations, the disk is in open air, in a vertical position, and gets little airflow. To correct that, I added a fan to the rear of the unit to cool the drive. That works great on 2TB and larger drives that tend to run hot without it.
Bottom line: the thing WORKS, WELL. Connectors will fail under heavy use. They can be replaced. Fans can be added for cooling. Sure hope Sharkoon starts selling this again. I'd like one more.

4 out of 5 eggsFast docking station

Pros: Fast, cheap, and works

Cons: Not yet

Other Thoughts: This docking station is fast. My SATA III HITACHI Deskstar 7K3000 HDS723015BLA642 shows 130MB read and 100MB write via ATTO using this docking station

5 out of 5 eggsWow! This thing is great!

Pros: USB3 is insanely fast compared to USB2. The device seems to be well built & I've ran it for a couple days straight with no issues.

Cons: The USB2 dock this is replacing had media adapters built in (for SD cards and other media formats), but this one doesn't. It would be nice if it did, but I'm just nit-picking.
There really aren't any cons to this device (so far).

Other Thoughts: A lot of the reviews show this thing as dying really quickly, but I've had great luck with it so far. This thing is awesome.

5 out of 5 eggsgood

Pros: been in use daily for over 4 months, no issues at all still fine. i must have transfered 30K in gbs or better, (i have lost track), of movies etc etc. never a problem.. great price looks like i will buy another one

Cons: none! at 20 bucks? you're are kidding me?

Other Thoughts: welcome over usb 2.0 when transferring big files, GB files, like movies anything above a gigabyte. don't forget you need a motherboard that has USB 3.0 or you'll need a add on card to run USB 3.0 to

Best just to buy a motherboard (ASUS is my choice) with usb 3.0 and sata 6 ready. no sense in an added card to use up an xpress slot.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed almost immediately

Pros: Do I have to say something nice here? Ummm, it's black and has a pretty blue power LED?

Cons: Failed after a couple of hours and it's going to cost me $10.35 to send it back.

5 out of 5 eggsSharkoon Quickport

Pros: Arrived promtly, new and in good working order. Immediately formatted a pair of 2.5" IDE HDD's w/o problem. Formatted, read and wrote to a FAT32 and NTFS 5.25" HDD's w/o complication. Installed, formatted and used a 500MB SATA HDD w/o problems. Left device running 14 hours continuously w/o fail or excessive heat.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: To get the new SATA HDD to be recognized by WinXP, I did have to assign the new drive a letter. I chose "R". As soon as I did the SATA HDD was instantly recognized in Explorer.
