1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: It powers my headset.

Cons: This refuses to work with my startech usb audio interface, causes issues with usb tethering, causes my razer deathadder to jump around the screen, causes my razer black widow to insert the wrong value for a keypress. Somehow the hard drive works, I'm not sure how.

Other Thoughts: Ignore my previous 5 start review; this thing is junk.

3 out of 5 eggsIts ok

Pros: works fine for keyboard and mouse. does the basic job well for its price.

Cons: Not powerful enough to handle devices beyond keyboards and mice. If you are planning on attaching webcams and hard drives in addition to keyboard and mice you should look into powered hubs.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

This hub still should be able to power up a keyboard and mouse. Perhaps try connecting the hub to a different available USB 2.0 port.

This hub is one of many popular product that we sell.

Thank you for purchasing one of our products, and for leaving us your valuable feedback.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: * Works
* Small and not flashy

Cons: * Wish the cable was a bit longer
* Not really a con but would have loved if it came with a strip of velcro tape or something so I can secure it to my desk easily.

5 out of 5 eggsHandy, compact, and works

Pros: Compact size. Good long cord.

Has a Power LED to show connectivity to the USB case port. This helps you know this hub is connected. The case port supplies the 5V for this LED.

Cons: Would've preferred the ports to be in a line on one side but already knew from pics that 2 were on the long side and one each was on the short sides.

The Power LED on this hub consumes some power but hopefully not much. It does mean there will be a bit less power available to any high-power USB device plugged into this hub. Since I'm using it only for low-power USB devices (keyboard, mouse), what the Power LED consumes is of no concern.

The cable is a bit skinny which likely means there is no shielding to guarantee error-free transmission. Hopefully I'm not in an EMF noisy environment.

Other Thoughts: There was another Syba model that had LEDs to show connectivity and on/off switches on each port. I decided not to get the extra fluff: more stuff to break.

Some portable passive USB hubs have really short cords. I wanted something that I could position on the desk (using a velcro pad) in a position that was doable for me. The long cord helped let me place the hub where I wanted.

I cannot speak as to its durability. My use will be to velcro it to my desk for use with a laptop that will always be on my desk. Devices plugged into it will always remain plugged into it (keyboard, mouse) so the ports in this hub will get no abuse/wear from plugging in and out of devices.

1 out of 5 eggsConnectland Usb Hub Item # 17-801-056

Pros: Nothing

Cons: Did not work. It hung up my computer. This is the second one that did that. I recommend that you do not buy this item.

Other Thoughts: Should not carry item in inventory.

Manufacturer Response:

4 out of 5 eggsGets the job done

Pros: It works.

Cons: 30-inch cable (I measured it) is fairly restrictive going from the back of a PC to the top of a desk.

Other Thoughts: I've plugged a bunch of devices into this thing and didn't run into any problems. Can't say that about my last USB hub.

2 out of 5 eggsWorked for 10 months

Pros: Cheap, lots of ports and well spread out.

Cons: Extremely short cable, but I bought a cheap extension cable (like $2) after reading some of the other review before buying.

Burned out after 10 months. All I used was a USB headset and a 8gb thumbdrive, and that was apparently too much.

Other Thoughts: The thumbdrive still worked, so it wasn't fully "blown", but now it is useless. This saved me from putting my usb headset all the way into the back of my computer and the same for my thumbdrive. Now it is either/or.

Save up for something better if you have the funds. Otherwise, don't expect it to last long.

3 out of 5 eggsAverage while it lasted

Pros: - Works, I guess. Responsive. Used it for simple USB devices like keyboards and mice, never any intensive data transfer. Did use a flash drive now and then.

Cons: - Feels cheaply made, flimsy almost
- Speeds weren't that great, expected slightly more with a price of $10.
- Failed after about a year of intermittent usage.

Other Thoughts: A little expensive for how long it lasted.
