5 out of 5 eggsSyba/Connectland cloning &docking station

Pros: It works well. I've used it several times to clone my ssd's and Sata mechanical drives.

Cons: The only concern I have is if the LED that lights up during cloning burns out, it would be difficult to know if the duplication process has finished.

2 out of 5 eggsRead issues

Pros: This seems like a nice product.It isn't entirely clear from the description but this is a dual dock. It supports simultaneous mounting of two 3.5" drives (I assume 2.5" also although I haven't tried that) and includes a drive duplication feature that doesn't require a computer (I haven't tried that feature either, but it's described in the manual)

Cons: It's looking like this may be a write only device. I'm using this under Linux Mint 17 Qiana (GNU/Linux 3.13.0-24-generic x86_64) and I've copied 2.9T to a 6T drive in this dock. Then a I try to run a "diff -qr" to verify that the copied files are identical to the original. Every time I run the diff I get an I/O error and the drive unmounts. I am able to remount the drive, but running the diff again causes it to unmount every time. Individual spot checks work, but it looks like sustained reads activity may somehow overload the dock.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent docking station!

Pros: Worked perfect right out of the box. No need to install anything if you use it as a stand alone unit to clone drives.

This docking station is a breeze to use, simply drop your drive in and connect to a 3.0 port and you are good to go. It will also work with no problems on usb 2.0 but data transfers will be quite a bit slower!

I keep backups of data on drives that are not installed in my machine, and have used numerous devices to connect with a usb cable when I needed to transfer data. Having to connect cables and power all the time can be cumbersome!

Cons: None at all!

5 out of 5 eggsThis is a great SATA to usb 3.0 hdd docking station

Pros: Everything works exactly as described and works well with all my equipment in general. direct copy of one hard drive to another is a huge Pro as well. also a pretty good price, and a nice looking unit.

Cons: None so far, it has worked exactly as expected.

1 out of 5 eggsUnhappy

Pros: None for me.

Cons: I am trying to copy a bunch of folders from the drive on my computer to a drive in this USB3.0 Dock. I have tried multiple HDDs, and differnet ports on my computer. I even tried usb2.0 port and cable. If I try to copy more than 100gb or so at a time it always slows down to 1kbs after copying about 17 gigs or so. If I copy one folder or large file say 5-10 gbs it works fine. If i do a folder or file over 20gbs or so it freaks out every time.
This is on a Asrock z77 extreme with the newest BIOS and the newest Intel INF and USB3.0 drivers running Win8.1.

Other Thoughts: I tired 5 different times before i gave up with multiple files and folders from both of the HDDs in my computer to 3 different HDDs in the USB dock. All i wanted to do was too make a copy of the 700gb or so of valuble data i have on my computers 2 HDDs, to an extra HDD.

5 out of 5 eggsAn Excellent docking solution

Pros: * Reads / Writes to 2 drives at the same time.
* USB 3 technology = Fast
* Hard Drive cloning feature is very useful.
* Slide tray closes to fit 1 drive when necessary.
* Looks nice

Cons: * Clone button should have a raised ring around the button or be recessed so that accidental cloning can not happen.

Other Thoughts: I have two of these docks running 4 drives as an addition to my desktop setup. I only turn on the docks when I need something from one of the 4 SATA drives. By leaving 4 SATA drives in these docks and only using them when needed, I extend the potential lifetime of the SATA drives.

I love having the ability to save power, only use the drives when I need them & the ability to clone drives at will.

These SYBA docking units have been very reliable and I am impressed with their continued quality and reliability.

1 out of 5 eggs

Pros: None, since it failed after 3 uses, and failed after warranty repair

Cons: eSATA never worked on new unit, USB 3.0 worked three times, then failed, paid for shipping for warranty repair, but the repaired unit does not work with either eSATA or USB 3.0

Other Thoughts: I would not buy anything from this company.

5 out of 5 eggsGood buy!

Pros: Easy to use
Quick

Cons: None really. The data (sata 3) cable could have been a foot longer...

Other Thoughts: I read a number of reviews that complained of overheating and overall slow speeds. I used it to clone my 60GB notebook drive to a new 500GB one. It took about 20 minutes and the drive was cool to the touch after being in the dock for hours afterward. I'm using it run the 60GB as back up. On a side note, keep in mind when you clone a drive with the stand alone function the device will make an exact copy. It made a 60GB partition on the 500GB drive and would not run the two drives together (one in the dock) because of an identity conflict.
