1 out of 5 eggsShutdown Coming Up

Pros: Inexpensive - Small

Cons: Using with a Mac Mini 6,1 with 12 gb of memory. Wanted to expand past the four usb 3.0 devices. At first it worked well, but now once the Mac Mini goes into Energy Saver mode, the computer shuts down completely and won't reboot until I pull the power plug. If I don't power the hub...it's fine...as soon as I power it....POOF it shuts down and won't power back up until I unplug it.

1 out of 5 eggsWorthless

Pros: None noted !

Cons: Connected to my system. Heard the connection being made, but nothing shows in win 7. Tried to connect a 32gig thumb drive and heard the connection but nothing showed on the screen. Retried in another computer and same thing, NOTHING!

Other Thoughts: My fault for not testing it out when I first received the unit. I didn't pay a lot for this but, I would have been better flushing the money down the toilet. Sometimes you are the windshield and sometimes you are the bug.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

Perhaps the USB drivers on your system need to be updated.

Navigate to your device manager and check that each device under the Universal Serial Bus controllers section has the latest drivers installed by going online.

Thank you for purchasing one of our products, and for leaving us your valuable feedback.

3 out of 5 eggsIt works

Pros: I use this hub on a regular basis to connect external hard drives, USB sticks and a smart card reader. So far I had no problems. The hub is small and has an appealing design

Cons: The power supply is bulky and ugly. The Micro B Female Port seems flaky, but this is a design problem of this particular format, rather than a shortcoming of the hub itself.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We will take your feedback into consideration to make a change to a type A/B female port in the future for newer models.

Thank you for leaving us your valuable feedback.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: External Power
USB 3.0
Nice design

Cons: Needs more ports :)

Other Thoughts: I use this thing as a dock for my Dell XPS 13. I have two USB to DVI adapters, USB to Ethernet, and a USB keyboard plugged into it and it has worked flawlessly for months now.

I wanted to give it time to see if it would die before writing the review, but I'm very happy with it.

I wish it had more ports, but for the price, I cannot complain

5 out of 5 eggsDon't plug power in when connectd to cpu.

Pros: Worked very well. Able to run multiple devices.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Blew out hub and interface card when I powered unit when it was attached to cpu. Should have known better. Not an issue with the device.

1 out of 5 eggsPC won't power up with this connected

Pros: USB 3

Cons: Shorts out PC

Other Thoughts: I leave my PC on and one morning I woke up and it shut down overnight. I checked the power connections NG. Tried a new cord NG. So I called my son up to check it out. He rechecked all the things I did, then started disconnecting all the cables, after he pulled a few out he decided to try it again and it booted. He plugged everything back in and the wired keyboard + mouse did not work. The wireless keyboard worked so he told me to reboot. I shut everything down and the PC seemed like it lost power again. Mike comes back up from the basement, starts pulling out the cords again and when he pulls out the USB 3 cable connected to this he tries it again and it powers up. I left it out + it rebooted 3x so far so now I'm looking for a RMA. I'll let you know the outcome.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

Perhaps the power supply you are using does not support all these devices you are trying to connect.

5 out of 5 eggsSmall, Powerful, great for Travel

Pros: Small size, power adapter

Cons: None yet

Other Thoughts: I had used 2 of these on my desktop for over a 6 months with no issues at all. I'm a professional wildlife photographer so compactness and the ability to be powered externally were necessary when picking a hub for my Surface Pro 128 tablet. I need to connect my 2 WD 2 TB external drives, a compact flash card reader to my surface pro to download my daily photograph load. Using Breeze systems "Downloader Pro" and Mirror folder, I am able to empty a 16 GB card to one drive and make a backup on a second driver in about 4 1/2 minutes.

2 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Small, inexpensive

Cons: Doesn't work anywhere near advertised speed

Other Thoughts: This shows up on my PC as a USB 2.0 MTT hub, when Windows properly discovers it. Transfer rate from an SD card reader through this hub is about 30 MB/s when it works. Transfer rate when bypassing this hub goes up to 100 MB/s.

Sometimes Windows says it's an unknown device, did not get installed properly and won't function at all. I tried driver updates many time but can't find a driver anywhere. I suspect the unit is defective. Power supply is good.

It works great the 50% of the time that it does work - as a USB hub. I already have one of those.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

You did not specify if you have connected this Hub to a USB 2.0 or USB 3.0 port?

In order to enjoy USB 3.0 speed, you need to connect it to a USB 3.0 port on your system.

If you have connected it to a USB 3.0 port, please contact our technical support team and we will help you to find out the problem.

Our technical support team is available to help 9am-5pm M-F. Feel free to contact us during those business hours at support@sybausa.com

5 out of 5 eggsMore than a hub

Pros: I must add this to my earlier review "More than a hub". This "hub" is an awesome charger. It charges my devices faster than any charger that I have used previously.
To the reviewer who had no "upstream cable. The blue cable (if you got one) is the upstream cable but if you want to connect it to a tablet with a micro usb port you will need an adapter. The adapter I got from the egg is called a host adapter but I am not sure that a simple adapter would not work as I did not try one.

Cons: Got one with faulty blue cable and Newegg wanted $10 to ship it when I clicked on "REPLACE" in the product history in my account page. However when I clicked on the RMA confirmation in my Email, I was offered a free shipping label. I have purchased 3 of these so picked one of the others for a refund.

Other Thoughts: Do not indicate the item is defective or you will not get free shipping but will have to pay $10 to ship your defective $20 item.

5 out of 5 eggsMore than a hub

Pros: I have this attached to my Nexus 7 tablet thru a usb (host) adapter and wireless devices (keyboard/mouse) operate even without the power cord. With the power cord attached it charges devices thru the usb ports as well. However the Nexus 7 is not being charged when the usb (host) adapter is installed.Only when its usb charger cord is installed.
The low profile white device with blue usb cord looks great. I had to get 2 more for my desktop pc's. I have a couple of other hubs (unpowered) which do not support my wireless devices most of the time. Hope these last.

Cons: usb cable is rather thick but the device stays where you put it .
