4 out of 5 eggscheap

Pros: cheap, many interfaces,

Cons: cheaply made, unusual docking makes me not sure the drives are seated properly.

Other Thoughts: It's fine, I guess. It is really cheap. I have a few other cradles (I prefer them to hot swap bays or enclosures) that really grip that HDD and you are positive it is plugged in. This one is a little iffy on that point. The rounded slot for the drive I don't much care for. Every time I move this thing, it seems so flimsy.

2 out of 5 eggsSeverely flawed USB

Pros: Cheap. Esata seems to work fine up to 4TB.

Cons: USB only seems to work reliably up to 2TB.

Other Thoughts: I tried this dock on a Mac Pro 1,1 on Mac OS 10.7.5. I tried it with the onboard USB 2.0 ports, as well as a Sonnet allegro usb 3.0 card and a dynex eSATA card.

The dock seems to work 100% fine with drives up to 2TB in size, including drives formatted in other docks. Beyond that, things get complicated.

If you format a 3TB or 4TB drive using the USB interface, it will not work in a third party dock. ALSO, it will not work in this dock using the eSATA interface!

I formatted a 3TB and a 4TB drive using the USB 3 interface with GPT and Mac OS Extended Journaled, and the drive will show up as a MBR drive with a generic unix disk name in disk utility if I plug it into a different dock or using the eSATA interface.

If I formatted the 3TB or 4TB drive using the eSATA interface it works fine with other docks. But again, switching to the USB interface on this dock makes the drive show up weird. (Yes, I power cycled the enclosure when changing interfaces and only had one cable hooked up at a time)

TL;DR- eSATA seems to be totally 100% fine up to 4TB. USB is totally 100% fine up to 2TB. If you format a drive using this dock's USB connector, you're locked into using the drive with this particular dock for life (barring reformatting). It will not show up properly in other docks, or even over the eSATA interface on this same dock.

3 out of 5 eggsSYBA, You forgot something...

Pros: Plug n play, OK data rates. Detects my formatted HDD just like I left it. This is apparently all it does, it is only a plug in and play device. See cons.

Worked great with my USB 3.0, but you need to make sure you have the drivers from your motherboard's website first! I have a Gigabyte 770TA-UD3 v1.0 and the drivers can easily be found on the website.

Cons: First off, in the newegg pictures and on the actual product it's self it has something called "PC Clone" above the large blue button. It also has % complete things all around the button. I would expect to be able to press this button and it take my computer hard drive and clone it. Well, apparently all this button has is a stationary blue on light, and all it does is turn the power on and off. I notice SYBA has another product exactly like this one that has the same feature, but 2 hard drive slots. Did they forget to remove the writing when they made the single one? I am starting to think... This is a major flaw. The actual box the item came in does not have this writing, and the large button simply has a label called "Power".

Was expecting 6 GB/s transfer speed over eSATA but according to the manual it is only 3 GB/s thus making the USB 3.0 the faster option at 5GB/s. I was disappointed newegg didn't have this information on the product page.

Manual also says not used for 24/7 use, which is most like any other docs with no cooling device.

Other Thoughts: I e-mailed SYBA to figure out what's up with them printi
