4 out of 5 eggsWorks as expected, instructions are not as clear as they should be.

Pros: Accepts bot mSATA and M.2 drives for SATA connector. Once inserted, drive works like a 2.5" SSD.

Cons: Instructions are confusing when all they are trying to say is that if your drive is not "full size", you need to put the screw mount in the correct place. Cover is a little difficult to open and close.

Other Thoughts: It worked for me to transfer several hundred gigs between SSD drives, one internal, this adapter in an external SATA docking station.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes the job - going to buy another one

Pros: Works just as you would expect. Overall quality was better than I expected. The hardware (screws and nuts) was clearly bagged and labeled.

Cons: The tiny screws were awkward for mounting the M.2 drive to the board, mounting the board to the case, and assembling the case cover. Honestly though, I'm not sure what else they could do. We live in a world of tiny things. At least they included some spares to make up for the ones that are now somewhere on my kitchen floor.

In case you're wondering, you can mount an M.2 drive or an mSATA drive, but not both at the same time.

Other Thoughts: I bought this for two reasons:

1) I build new systems by cloning drives at a disk-to-disk copy station. Without this kit, I had no way to copy M.2 drives. With this I now just temporarily mount the M.2 drive to the adapter card and don't bother putting the case around it. The board plugs right into my SATA copy device.

2) M.2 is the Swiss Army Knife of drive connections. It has pins for USB, SATA, and PCIe. I built an Intel NUC several months ago and used an M.2 drive that used AHCI over SATA (i.e. no PCIe support). Later I bought a better Samsung M.2 drive that used NVMe over PCI express. So, I needed to find a new home for my older M.2 drive. This SYBA kit allowed me to turn my old M.2 into a conventional SATA 2.5" SSD. When you're all done you can't even tell there is an M.2 inside the case.

Tip: Pay attention to the mounting instructions. The top of the board is not the side with the components. It's back side of the board. The M.2 mounting post comes up from the back side (the top side)

1 out of 5 eggsIs this for M.2 to Sata III?!?

Pros: Easy to assemble.

Cons: I bought a SAMSUNG SM951 M.2 128GB PCI-Express 3.0 Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) - OEM, and have attempted to install in my PC. I cannot tell if it is getting power to it or not but everything is plugged into it correctly and the m.2 board was able to fit in snugly. My question is does the M.2 drive I referenced above function with this hardware?

Other Thoughts: Would be great if it would work.

Rated 1 egg until I can actually get the thing to work.

Manufacturer Response:

Dear Customer,

We apologize for the issues you've experienced with adapter.

We've done some research. The Samsung SM951 uses an M-key M.2 connector. This adapter uses a B-key, which is incompatible with your SSD. We apologize for the confusion. We'll be updating our product page to reflect this fact.

Thank you for purchasing one of our products, and for leaving us your valuable feedback.

5 out of 5 eggsThis thing works.

Pros: Device works well. There were lots of options for connections and sizes that I didn't need. I think there were must have been every kind of connector in the packaging. If you think it will work, it probably will.

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: I do computer repair for a living. I bought a business class 3.5lb laptop that didn't have a sata drive in it. I needed to clone the small 256GB msata drive to a 480GB msata drive. After I used the enclosure to do the clone, I was able to use it again to make the old 256GB msata a usable SATA drive for a different laptop. It was really handy, and I could see me picking up one for future use in the office, permanently.
