2 out of 5 eggsDoes not work with Logitech!

Pros: Fast switch between workstations

Cons: Does not work with Logitech or wireless keyboards and mice.

Other Thoughts: This KVM works well if you have 2 XP computers and using a wired USB mouse and keyboard. But it will never work with any Logitech product according to there tech support. So i got a Kensington wireless keyboard and mouse. Same exact issue. They say its compatible but its really not. I am very upset with this product. The only reason i give it 2 stars is that its very fast at switching over to the other workstation. Besides that I don't recommend this at all if your a Logitech/wireless keyboard and mouse user.

1 out of 5 eggsMajor video problem

Pros: This KVM looks good on paper, with the features most people would need... controls two PCs with a single USB keyboard and mouse, also switches audio, hotkey control, fairly long cables.

Cons: Unfortunately, the KVM would NOT correctly pass the video from my second (brand-new) PC to my (fairly top-end) CRT monitor. The monitor complained that the horizontal scan rate was too high, then shut off. It did this no matter which of the two ports I tried. But the monitor works just fine connected directly to the PC.

Granted, the video on the second PC is running though a DVI-to-VGA adapter (the KVM uses DB-15 VGA connectors), but this is a fairly common configuration on modern videocards, and the KVM ought to be able to deal with it without modifying the VGA signal to such extremes. And this was happening with the BIOS POST screens (text-mode)... I never bothered to see how it worked in Windows, because it's kinda useless without the ability to work in BIOS screens.

1 out of 5 eggsNot impressed!!!

Pros: *keeps resolution

Cons: *switching function rarely works
- to get it to switch, it generally takes plugging one machine in at a time, which defeats the purpose of the KVM!!
*takes pc's forever to install mouse and keyboard...if they ever do
- some pc's do not support USB mouse or keyboard in BIOS, I know that, I'm strictly talking about in Windows (XP, Vista, 7)

Other Thoughts: I've used many KVMs, and this is the worst one I've ever used. I realize that a USB KVM might have some issue if a pc is really dated, but even on new machines this KVM rarely works correctly. I bought 7 of these for our new doesn't work right at all (video color and size is all wrong) and the other 6 all have the above mentioned problems!!

5 out of 5 eggsGets the Job Done

Pros: It allows the keyboard and mouse to be independently detected by the computer and only uses one USB port on each computer. It's simple, has integrated cables, and gets the job done. The hot key is also quick to respond and switches immediately.

Cons: I would prefer a button as well as hot keys just in case

Other Thoughts: This replaced a KVM that was failing which only picked up the mouse and keyboard as generic devices. This KVM actually allows me to utilize all the functions of my Microsoft keyboard and logitech trackman wheel which I love. I only use it to hook up video using my 2nd computer but it works fine at 1920x1200 on VGA.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect KVM (for D-sub/HDB-15)

Pros: It works (sad, but cannot say the same for some other KVMs); passes through EDID info so the monitor resolution stays as it should when computers are powered on; nice implementation of keyboard hotkeys for control functions; has audio too; good price.

Cons: None found yet.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to replace a Belkin Flip KVM that was annoying because my monitor was not recognized through the KVM and the resolution always defaulted to a standard resolution (and could not even be changed to the optimum resolution unless I plugged the monitor directly into the computer -- precisely what you want to avoid with a KVM). Since this unit passes the monitor's EDID info to the computer, I no longer have to deal with that hassle. I couldn't be more pleased!
