I have a work laptop that shares a second monitor with my desktop. Does this leave a dumby screen for the laptop when switching between the two?

I use mine in a similar fashion, except the reverse, my laptop uses both screens, but my 'under the desk' PC uses a single monitor. When I switch to the PC, the one screen works, the keyboard and mouse follow, but the second monitor is still connected to the laptop. So, basically, it works as I intended for it to work. That said, I rarely switch because both are connected to the network, so I remote into the PC from the laptop. I need to switch when I boot because all our machines have encrypted disks, and I have to enter the password before it will boot.
