4 out of 5 eggsReliable with more power via Y-cable

Pros: Windows To Go Enterprise edition installs, boots and runs great from installed SSD drive.

Cons: Included cable doesn't provide enough power.

Other Thoughts: Installed a Crucial M550 mSATA drive and experienced problems initially; failed file transfers, drive disappearing etc. Then tried with a USB 3.0 "Y-cable" that has two 'A' connectors; one for data and power via a USB 3.0 port and a second to draw additional power from an available USB 2.0 or 3.0 port. With the new (micro-B to two male-A) Y-cable drive has worked great; boots Windows 8.1 very fast with around 400MB/s speeds via "USB Attached SCSI Protocol" (UASP) compatible USB 3.0 port on ThinkPad.

1 out of 5 eggsrestarts all the time

Pros: Really nice, small, compact size which can fit easily into your pant/shirt pocket.

Cons: Completely unreliable! It doesn't hang, but it restarts on a consistent basis, thus not allowing for any type of long duration usage.
Want to transfer large files? - NOPE! can't do that
Want to run programs directly of the drive? - NOPE! so sorry!

Other Thoughts: Avoid this and the Kingwin drive, they are identical and both disconnect and reconnect consistently.

and what's up with all those 5 egg reviews!? All lies!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat tiny storage

Pros: It is small, rugged, well built and easy to work with. Paired with a SSD Msata drive, it is also very very fast. And, it looks good. Finally, every time my wife saw it she would say "Mushkin" in her sexy little voice. Big pro!

Cons: I didn't find any, it does what it says it will do and does it very well. It is a case, and I haven't found any problems with it. One screw was a little hard to remove initially, and I notice it gets very warm after being plugged in for long periods of time of heavy use. Neither is a problem, but thought I would mention.

The big CON, is I gave it away as a gift and couldn't keep it myself. Would love to have one.

Other Thoughts: I bought this and a Mushkin Enhanced MKNSSDAT240GB 240GB Mini-SATA drive as a gift for a great friend. I really wanted to buy one for myself, but couldn't justify it. I let him build it but asked him for details. He said it was extremely easy, one screw was a bit hard to deal with, but that was the only issue. And that wasn't really a problem at all. So he brings it to me to test out and I give it a go. It's blazing fast, small, silent, but I did notice it got a bit warm, but not hot.

Transferring files to and from it was very fast 80MBS from my unraid server, which is the same speed I get copying to my desktop from my unraid server over the Gb network.

I hope to get one for myself in the near future. Zero concern about this case. It looks awesome, is rugged and fast and SMALL.

5 out of 5 eggsNearly Flawless

Pros: No DoA units. Reliable connection.

Cons: Gets really hot. Concerned about drive longevity.

Other Thoughts: I've purchased so many mSATA to USB3 enclosures. Nearly all of the have the same footprint as this one: Kingston, Mushkin, and three brands I've never heard of. Except for these Mushkin units, none of them was reliable. In every other case, it seems like the connection to the adapter board is flimsy. Even swapping around USB cables, only Mushkin was consistently reliable.
On the consumer Newegg site, the Mushkin units have so-so ratings. I ordered 5 of these, expecting 1 failures...I now have 1 extra! I'm guessing Mushkin resolved the issues they and other manufacturers were having.
These units do get uncomfortably hot. My SandForce mSATA drive is worse than my Samsung EVO's but based on estimated active drive power consumption alone, this is not surprising.
I love the form factor of these. Having 1TB portable backups (1 each for my Linux and Windows laptops, and my MacBook Pro) is really convenient. If you do this also, don't forget to encrypt your drives!

1 out of 5 eggsShoulda listened to the negative reviews.

Pros: Nice size.
Recognized by Windows OS. (When flaky cable/connector maintained connection)

Cons: Although unit was recognized by OS through USB interface, the mSata drive never was.

Other Thoughts: I wish I listened to the naysayers since it looks like I was in the unfortunate 50% failure rate class than the 50% working class. I paid the higher price than the other products listed because I only wanted to deal w/Newegg, especially if you dug into the ratings on the 3rd party Marketplace vendors, and I paid for the upgraded shipping (arrived in 2 days) but all that did was get the defective product in my hands faster. I could rail on the Customer Service a bit but they have limited options to offer us with their margins so low as it is in the box shuffling business they're in but hey... garbage in, garbage out. I tried to get this replaced/returned the same day it was delivered but CS really frustrated me with the options they offered especially since my window of need for this product evaporated when I found it wouldn't identify the mSata drive I was trying to upgrade. (It again worked fine when plugged back into the computer)

5 out of 5 eggsGreat product

Pros: Small size
Durable enclosure
Very reasonable speed with USB 3.0
Works fine with USB 2.0 ports, though at a reduced speed
Works with mSATA SSDs that are not compatible with the SYBA adapters

Cons: The included cable is really short
The USB connector should've been recessed a couple millimeters more
Does not work through the hubs that I have -- must be connected directly to the USB port

Other Thoughts: Not fully sure why other people are having problems with this enclosure. I had only minor issues (see above), and I consider this the best external drive I've ever had.

1 out of 5 eggsYep

Pros: good design, solid aluminum case, quick when works

Cons: causes usb3 to hang and crash

Other Thoughts: installed samsung msata with windows to go enterprise, worked perfectly for about 3 days, then started crashing. works fine when connected to a usb 2.0 port (just too slow to boot from)
