1 out of 5 eggsThey Won't Let Me Call it @#$%

Pros: It's white, if you want white.

Cons: I thought I'd try it out despite its larger footprint. I wish I hadn't.

I've been using external docks for years. Most recently, I've had three different USB 3.0 external docks -- this one, a Syba Connectland, and an Inateck FD1003. Of all those docks over the years, this is the only one that died. Tech support simply ignored me. Complete waste of money.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the price

Pros: Works reliably. Priced well

Cons: Inserting drives doesn't feel "natural" - you have to make a slight effort to align the drive properly with the connector, as it's easy to tilt the drive in the wrong direction. I would expect a "full size" 3.5" drive to fit "snug".

3 out of 5 eggsDecent for basic use, many flaws, does its job reasonably

Pros: USB 3.0 and capable of accepting drives from 2.5" to 3.5"...USB 3.0 Transfer speeds make all the difference and pulling a drive and being able to instantly use it externally is a huge convenience.

Cons: Compatibility....on some devices like my PS4 for instance, it detects this in a way that makes the dock and the drive in it appear as two separate devices connected to the USB hub...its correct i guess but not right if that makes any sense, it should be able to negotiate a link that represents it as a single external drive. The reason it is a problem is if i want to transfer video clips from my PS4 to a USB drive, it asks you to unplug all but the drive you want to use, the PS4 detects this as multiple drives or multiple devices, and therefore i can't even proceed to copy data from the console to the drive. Also a few hard drives or more likely Partition types are not handled properly and act like the partition is not healthy or for instance if you reformat a GPT partition and then put it in a computer it doesn't recognize it properly, not a issue with other docks.

Lastly, the "power light" or apparently "activity light". This was poorly designed, regardless of what you feel about people not noticing its not a power light so its not a problem, its still poorly designed. Ideally it would be both, Solid indicated power, blinking indicates activity. It should also have power management that puts it to sleep when not connected via USB...this is unacceptable, drives are sitting there spinning wasting power and life of the drive.

Other Thoughts: Its cheap and a great occasional use for basic uses, or it was when i bought it, now i would look to other better units for same prices & look at reviews to see how it handles partitions & power management.

5 out of 5 eggsSecure 3 Price, speed.

Pros: Nice build, Clean styling, works with USB 2 as well even smaller 2.5 work well
Great transfer speeds
Solid Blue Light when Power on and when Read/Write it Blinks.

Cons: I don't care for where the on/off switch is in the back need to be in front a push button would have been nice I don't like Hot swapping had bad luck with in past with hard drive controller card.

Other Thoughts: I should point out there are two firmware updates
The one label as [2013.09.08] it disable the LED light if you install so do install unless your using Windows XP which can be fix by editing the INI look for two_leds=0 change it to 1

2 out of 5 eggsGood for USB2.0, not so good for 3.0

Pros: Price, speed.

Cons: Loss of 3.0 connectivity; no power indicator light (separate from data traffic light.)

Other Thoughts: I have purchased three of these over the last 8 months, and two have lost all USB 3.0 connectivity after about 4 months of average use. Windows 7 gives me a "boink" to let me know they're connected, but the drives are not visible or accessible when plugged into a 3.0 port. They still work as USB 2.0 docks, but that's not what I bought them for.

Just waiting now to see how much longer the third one lasts.

1 out of 5 eggsWon't install with USB 3

Pros: Nice build, Clean styling, works with USB 2

Cons: Will not install with USB 3.

Other Thoughts: When I plug it into my USB 3.0 ports, my Win7 computer just keeps doing the 'boink' sound like it's detecting a usb device, but never manages to actually see it. I then get a message that the device did not install properly. It is totally unusable as a usb 3 device. It does work with my usb 2.0 ports, but I did not pay for a SLOW usb 2 device. At this speed, it is mostly useless to me.

5 out of 5 eggsbuy it.

Pros: Fast and reliable. Use monthly and sometimes to repair drive.

Cons: A fan would improve it. Not needed depending on conditions and your drive. WD black and Green are OK for repair and testing. Drive gets warm. Not a good option for continuous heavy use.

Other Thoughts: Could be smaller. Too bulky
