5 out of 5 eggsSolid Case

Pros: -Stylish
-Price
-Small and Compact
-Solid Construction
-Brushed Aluminum Underside
-Sharpie adheres well to the white face of the case for easy marking
-Good Transfer Rates (AVG of 34MB/s with several drives of varying speeds)

Cons: -USB2.0
-Just a tiny-bit difficult to take apart but it's not a big deal if you're not doing it often like me.

Other Thoughts: These are really great units, I'm sad to see Newegg might be discontinuing them. I just bought three of them within the last week and got compliments on their appearance from several techie friends only to find they're no longer for sale. Aside from their dashing good looks, they're well built and offer good transfer speeds for USB2.0. Did I mention the price?! $5.99 for a solid little case like this? It's hard to go wrong. Not pictured is the brushed aluminium back-panel that gives yet another nice touch to this case. Great quick-fix for those extra drives you have piling-up around the house.

5 out of 5 eggsYes indeed

Pros: Works good, looks sleek, slim design, no power cord

Cons: Included Y-Cable Takes 2 USB ports on the computer.

Other Thoughts: Works fine without the Y-Cable, using a different USB cord instead.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks as intended.

Pros: Cheap. It works.

Cons: Not built for constant opening and closing, but at 5 bucks, you can buy one for all your old notebook drives laying around.

Other Thoughts: For those saying the sticker leaves a residue on your enclosure, learn how to remove stickers properly.

4 out of 5 eggsCavalry Aluminum/Plastic USB 2.0 Enclosure

Pros: Cheap, Well Constructed, Works Great! For the price I am happy, and would buy again.

Cons: There are some cons. That is why 1 egg is taken off.
1. They put a upc sticker on the outside of the enclosure, that left glue/sticky paper behind and took be 20min to get it off with some time and patience. Why not stick it on the inside of the cover? Everything is in pieces when u get it anyway and you have to snap the 2 halves together so why put sticker on the outside??
2. The 2 halves where very difficult to snap together. I almost thought that the cheap enclosure was molded incorrectly, but after about 10 mins of working at it I finally figured out an angle that worked and snapped together.

Other Thoughts: THIS IS A SATA DRIVE ENCLOSURE. At the time of my purchase this item doesn't specify anywhere if it is IDE or SATA. Even Calvary's website doesn't give you a clue. I had to resort to a third party forum site to find this out, very annoying to have to dig around for 30mins or so to find if a product meets your needs.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Looks very nice, and is compact. No data transfer failures like my previous enclosure; solid feeling.

Cons: Not sure if I like the snap together fitting; I'm afraid that one can not swap hard drives too much or the plastic clips may wear out or break. I would personally prefer a screw together fitting.

Mine does have a very very small gap in one corner - you have to look for it. A screw together enclosure probably helps prevent this.

Other Thoughts: Put in an old SATA I, 4200rpm Toshiba hard drive. It makes for a nice 3rd/4th external backup just encase my computer gets stolen or incinerates itself!

I did transfer a lot of data back and forth (twice, after changing my mind on buying a SSD). I was nervous because my previous drive case would fail transfer and/or disconnect. Thankfully this case has not given me any errors or troubles!

The supplied USB cable is a Y cable (dual USB) - 1 USB for power and the other for data? Further, like most enclosures you can only use a single USB alone. I never plugged both USB ports in, only the single main one and have had no troubles.

1 out of 5 eggsworthless

Pros: There is nothing to say about this device

Cons: Rma'd the origional because the back cover wasn't machined properly to fit over the plastic top. Received model with exact same problem. You cannot attach the bottom piece to the top plastic part without first bending the bottom piece to get close to fitting over it. You're likely to break the little plastic tabs designed to hold

Other Thoughts: If you never intend to open the enclosure again, it works I guess.

3 out of 5 eggsit is okay ... just okay ...

Pros: cheap, looks nice, easy to use, gets the job done

Cons: it is very flimsy ... it has a "disposable" feeling to it.

Other Thoughts: I bought similar (no name) hard drive enclosures from china, even they seemed to be made out of better materials. If you want a good quality enclosure you have to pay about $15 - $20 range. This one gets the job done but it does not feel very robust. Sure it looks nice. It does have an "apple product" looks to it, but it does not look very durable. If you are looking for a temporary solution, go for this enclosure.

4 out of 5 eggsBreak the LED trust me

Pros: I bought this for 3 bucks and I'm still complaining because of two minor things. I have ton's of hard drives and enclosures and this one is ok and nice for the price. Would not pay more than 5 bucks for it though. It's not that nice

Cons: So my only gripes are first the blue led blinking when it's doing read writes is anoyying like any led that blinks. I hate leds so if you also hate them you can just take a pair a snippers or something and just cut one of the led connectors problem solved. No led but who cares.

And last the top is colored (pink in this case for my gf I swear) and the bottom is like a brushed metal but it had a darn sticker on the metal and if you remove it it will leave all that glue stuff spent about 15 minutes removing it. So that's why I really don't give it 5 eggs. Other that that it works just as it should.

Also once it put in the drive wouldn't really try taking it out to many times you can but you can also break the casing if not very very careful. Mainly get this if it's cheap and your planning on leaving the hard drive in there.

4 out of 5 eggsGets the job done

Pros: Quick and easy to use. put the drive in, snap it shut and go. looks good and its not bulky.

Cons: its not easy to put together. could be me jsut not being cordinated. it my windows 7 machine would not regerster this as a drive but just as a usb to sata conector.took me 2 hours to solve, had to repartition the drive. Went to pull it back apart to repation drive only way i know how and it felt like it was going to break it didn't so all is good.

Other Thoughts: the sticker on the the back was a pain to remove but once its gone its good. i like it tho gave my old laptop hard drive a home.
