5 out of 5 eggsGreat Product

Pros: This product is fantastic. The rubberized design helps protect the drive from shock impacts. This is great because I like to throw things in my backpack and tend to occasionally drop things no matter how careful I am. The large window on the top of drive displays the manufacturer's sticker. I want this because I have several drives and don't want to bother labeling and remembering which is which. It was easy to use, I inserted the drive, plugged in the supplied wire and was ready to rock. I also like how easy it is to change the drive inserted, just pull the rubber back and the drive out.

Cons: Maybe not the toughest thing in the world. I wouldn't leave the wire plugged in and try to throw it in my backpack.

Other Thoughts: I can't believe newegg ran out of these, they're great - newegg and these enclosures. I'm going to order three more when they come back in.

5 out of 5 eggsSweet Deal for Old PS3 Drives!!!

Pros: Cheap, very cool looking, and easy to install, what's not to like? Very cheap shipping. Take the sleeve out, slide the hd in, push the connectors in (gently) and you are ready to rock! Upgraded my 60 gb PS3 drive with a new 320 gb ($60 on newegg!!!) threw it in this sleeve and I was golden! After shipping you only end up paying $10.98!

Cons: Different colors would have been fantastic.

Other Thoughts: For the person that complained that his usb connector broke off because he was carrying the drive around in his bag with the cord plugged in; I don't consider that normal wear and tear. I don't leave anything plugged in to things like that as there are only a few solder points holding them to the circuit board anyways on any device. I've had bad experiences with headphone jacks and usb connectors. Advice: Never transport these things with the cords plugged in as it creates a leverage point to pry those connectors right off.

5 out of 5 eggsSeems good to me!

Pros: Small, fast, works well. Worked on my PC without using the second USB power connector. Faster than my 2 yr. old WD 250GB Passport. For $8?! Had to try it!

Cons: Oh, maybe different colors?

Other Thoughts: Bought to utilize a 2.5 sata 80GB I had mistakenly purchased for client needing ide. Like getting free drive since I didn't have a need for the sata that's been sitting around for 4 months...
Just a little tricky to set the connectors. Just take it slow and easy.

1 out of 5 eggsWorked great until broke

Pros: Simple, looks great, easy to hook up, no problems getting it going.

Cons: Broke under reasonable care. I left the usb cord plugged in, and put it in my bag. When I took it out, the usb connector completely broke off under the pressure of its weight against the cord. Because it's not secured against the silicone casing, it didn't take much pressure. Too cheap to send back for a replacement. Stay away from this enclosure unless you're planning to be super careful.

5 out of 5 eggsL337 h4X3r 1t3m

Pros: Lightweight small, protective, and I can look at the drive. Like the title sez, it's kinda a h4x0r type enclosure because it is more like a cellphone sleeve than some of the aluminum enclosures I've used in the past. I paired it up with a 320GB drive, and it's much faster than my PIDE 60GB I had been using regularly up to that point.

Cons: I'm a little afraid that silicone won't protect it from a bending, or flat pressure against the exposed circuit board on the drive.

Other Thoughts: Bought some stickers/tats from one of those $0.50 machines outside a restaurant, and have them in the hole where you insert the drive. Skull and cross bones made my wife think it wasn't what it is.

4 out of 5 eggsfunny little thing

Pros: This is a soft, rubber sleeve for the hard drive with a small bit of hardware for the SATA connection and USB miniport. The drive fits nicely into the sleeve and appears well protected. Simple, effective and inexpensive.

Cons: Durability is a question that only time will answer.

1 out of 5 eggsToo Bad

Pros: Simple yet elegant design.

Cons: Simply did not do its job.

The little blue LED activity light begins to flash and then never stops. The drive is performing FAR SLOWER than even USB 1.0 speeds !!! If autoplay is enabled, it takes forever even initiating the content scan. You can have lunch (and 2 desserts) while simply asking it to list the files in your Windows folder. If you actually need to transfer any data, start then leave on a nice long vacation.

I dis/re-connected the cables and drive multiple times and tried it with/out those secondary power plugged in. The behavior was identical on 4 different computers -- 2 Vista & 2 XP. None reported problems and all indicated recognition as a USB 2.0 device.

Other Thoughts: So unfortunate. Design design is simple yet elegant. Simply slide the drive inside the rubber enclosure and into the contacts. Plug the USB cable in (and the 'Y'd secondary USB power) and you are ready to go. The material provides skid resistance and some vibration protection. Mass storage controller and drive are recognized almost instantly. Then the problems start.

If it worked, I would have bought 10-12 more at an even higher price than I paid. Instead, I just wasted my money because it is absolutely worthless and not worth the shipping to send it back for a refund or credit.
