4 out of 5 eggsBeefy tray, centered drive

Pros: - Heavy galvanized steel, feels very beefy
- Comes with screws
- Notch under the edge of the drive makes getting at cables easier
- Cheap

Cons: - Drive is centered rather than positioning the connectors where they would be in a 3.5" drive
- Screws aren't quite flush with the bottom

Other Thoughts: Comparing this sled with the somewhat similar Mushkin drive bracket, its advantage is that it's heavier-duty, a bit longer (depending on where the mounting holes in your case are), and a little cheaper.

Disadvantages are that the screws aren't quite flush with the underside, and the drive sits centered on the bracket rather than offset to one side, so if your use case expects the connectors to be in the standard location for a 3.5" drive (for example, in a sled, or with cables "aimed" at one side of the drive) this one simply won't work.

It also has a textured finish, where the Mushkin's is smooth powder coating. On balance, I prefer the Mushkin.

2 out of 5 eggsOuter holes are the wrong size

Pros: Cheapest available

Cons: Outer holes are threaded

Other Thoughts: Outer screw holes should match the size and thread count a 3.5" hard drive, but are actually drilled the same as a notebook hard drive. This causes an issue for hard drive mount systems (in an apple iMac for example).

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works and is compatible with just about any HDD cage that uses screws to attach drives. Comes with all necessary screws to attach 2.5" drive.

Cons: Metal is a little flimsy compared to other products I've used, but still works fine. If you're constantly reinstalling drives, I'd think about a different product with a thicker metal.

Other Thoughts: I've tried multiple products that do the same thing. The plastic versions have difficulty with screws and the thicker metal versions are more expensive. Seems to be a good medium range product.

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not work with hotswap bays

Pros: If you using regular cables this should work fine. Comes with bracket and 8 screws.

Cons: Does not work with hot swap bays as spacing is incorrect

1 out of 5 eggsDoes not fit my Apevia Case

Pros: This bracket seems to be made of good quality material, and appears to have a good finish. It arrived quickly.

Cons: the screw holes are not properly spaced to allow it to fit inside my Apevia case. Therefore, this cannot be used properly in my case.

1 out of 5 eggsHoles not spaced right

Pros: Metal sturdy material

Cons: Only three of four holes can be used to attach the 2.5" laptop drive into this plate; I tried two different laptop drives and both only allowed three of four holes to be used for screws. The holes are not spaced correctly to allow a four hole screw in.

Other Thoughts: Do not recommend.

4 out of 5 eggsPerfect adapter for Cooler Master rails

Pros: I needed a full length drive adapter to work in my Cooler Master Scout case. The case uses a quick access rail type system with brackets designed to snap onto the sides of a 3.5" HDD via 2 pins on each bracket. Typical 2.5" drive adapters are too short for the brackets to fit onto, but this adapter solved that problem.

Its powder coated black with a rough texture providing good grip.

The back edge has been recessed in to allow a 90 degree SATA cable to plug into your storage device without contacting the adapter bracket.

Cons: The mounting holes are slightly too small for my Cooler Master brackets to snap onto. I solved quickly that with a power drill and small drill bit (sorry, don't recall what size it was).

Other Thoughts: Will continue to order these adapters as I upgrade the last of my HDD storage to SSD.
