2 out of 5 eggsFlimsy Latch

Pros: The device works well in an HP ds7900 desktop. Drives are recognized immediately, and bay door mechanism is smooth.

Cons: The front door latch is made from very thin plastic that broke on the first day of use. Would not buy again.

4 out of 5 eggsIt actually works pretty well

Pros: 1. 2.5 and 3.5 HDDs in 1 bay, what more do you want?

Cons: 1. A bit filmsy lever mechanism
2. Ventilation not great, the fan was not doing much other than generating some negative pressure.

Other Thoughts: The fan could have been more effective with a better case design. Right now, it's generating a negative pressure zone on the bay, not inside the enclosure.

2 out of 5 eggsBack to the Drawing board

Pros: It saves space

Cons: When it comes to inserting and removing the 2.5" drive, there are two problems:
First, the drive hangs up on poorly designed surfaces when both inserting and removing the drive.
Second with the 3.5" drive door closed removing the 2.5" drive is next to impossible, the arm that's supposed to kick it out doesn't kick it out enough so you can get a good grip on the drive to remove it, now combine that with the first problem and it creates a situation where opening the case and manually plugging and unpluggind the drive doesn't seem like so much work, so why own this?
The included fan is useless, on the underside of the rack is a large hole that allows the air to circulate up into the hole, out the back of the fan and back into the hole-- not across the hard drives. Any air going across the hard drives must be drawn in by your computer case's negative pressure created by it's fans.

Other Thoughts: So I disconnected the fan. My case fan creates plenty of negative pressure so, now the air is sucked in the front of the rack and can exit out any hole it wants, moving across the hard drives in the process.

2 out of 5 eggsNot that great

Pros: 1. Dual drive. 3.5 and 2.5 in a single 5.25 bay.
2. Caddy-less
3. Simple to use.

Cons: 1. Pretty flimsy. Every thing is made of cheap plastic including the latch. The exception is the main part of the frame which is metal and the push rods and the arms that push against the drives.
2. For some reason you can not use both sata bays at the same time, even though it has two sata connections on the back..
3. It just looks and feels cheap.

Other Thoughts: This is more like a $10 to $15 bay. I wish it worked and was made better as I like the idea. I would not recommend buying this, a waste of money I say.

4 out of 5 eggsNice

Pros: Folks, this looks pretty nice. I just received it and it's of reasonably sturdy metal and plastic construction. The locks look nice too. Good product for the price.

Cons: Could be a *tad* more solid, but certainly good enough.
