Pros: 3 HDDs.

Cons: Rear Fan is loud. Does not play well with cheap raid controllers. Decided to connect to on board controller.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat product with a couple small flaws

Pros: Adds a great deal of flexibility for replacing drives without having to open your case or pull it out of your desk.

Cons: The connectors for power and SATA would be better placed on the lefthand side of the unit (as viewed from the top/front) rather than the right. Might make this unit impossible to use in some cases, if they're right up against the motherboard (I have a larger case and can luckily access via the right side of the case). As mentioned in the other review - the spring clips on the front doors holding the drives in are not very strong. I was getting I/O errors on one of my drives, so I tried the pencil eraser trick, as suggested in the previous review - which solved the problem. You need to make sure the drives are definitely firmly pressed into place for the SATA/power connections in the back.

Other Thoughts: The plastic keys are a little chintzy, I already broke one by attempting to turn it the wrong direction, so be careful with them.

5 out of 5 eggsBest in Class

Pros: Very sturdy and well made. Doors are very smooth and getting drives in and out are a breeze.

Cons: The metal strips inside of each door that press against the drives to seat them are a little narrow and probably won't properly contact the back of a Velociraptor, causing it to not appear in the system or only intermittently work, but all of these types or racks seem to be made this way so I can't honestly remove an egg. Pull the eraser out of a new pencil, stuff it behind the strip so it sticks up enough to hit the Raptor's heat sink and voila (THAT'S HOW YOU SPELL IT, NOT "WALLA" OR WHATEVER!), problem solved.

Other Thoughts: There are literally dozens of gadgets that do exactly what this one does on the market. They cram three 3.5" drives into two 5.25" slots and use 2 molex power connectors to power three drives. Most of them are cheap, flimsy, junk. I am an IT professional and have built many servers around many different models of them.

This one costs more than most, but is head and shoulders above the rest and is worth the money, even if there isn't a little video game on each door.
