4 out of 5 eggsExcellent buy for Kingwin SATA bays.

Pros: This multi bay rack for 3 drives in two bay spaces has saved me a ton of work. I use my computer for a CNC mill, programming, engineering work and a number of other things and being able to swap out hard drives to deal with different operating systems is an absolute must and this drive bay has yet to wear out. Excellent buy.

Cons: Many internal bays tend to wear out over time. So far with a lot os swapping this one has not. It does stick with the drive in the bottom bay at times but so far nothing that cant be handled.

Other Thoughts: This is probably one of the better internal bays for hard drives I've seen in a while. Can't possibly describe to you how much time it has saved me.

2 out of 5 eggsDoes NOT play well with Others!

Pros: 3 in 2

Cons: Marvell and Asmedia choke on this puppy! Part of me says "if your arm hurts when you lift it.....don't lift it." On the other hand they should fess up to this. The wierd thing is that the file transfers run for a while hiccuping longer and longer and then slooooooly die with "source file not found". KINGWIN....fix it or admit it!
Kingwin, guys, you came up with a 4 Star BUG!

3 out of 5 eggs2 bays 3 drives!

Pros: Active cooling, dropped six 7200RPM drive temps from 47C to 38C

Fit 3 drives into 2 bays

Slide drives in and out with ease, no need for screws. as someone who is always updating the size of the drives in the WHS this is a blessing

Perfect for WHS users

Cheap, if you look elsewhere

numbered SATA connections ( the 3 bay model does not have numbered ports)

Cons: Fan is loud!

No fan control even when i connected the fan to my motherboard header

Tight! I had to force this thing in, and i brought 2 of them!

The connectors are on the wrong side!! After plugging in the SATA cables they interfered with my 24 pin motherboard connector. HAF 912 Advanced

The drive in the top bay sometimes do not make a solid connection to the back connectors forcing me to remove it and slide it back in after reboot.

Other Thoughts: At first i was going to get the 4 in 3 model but then decided to get two 3 in 2 models making it 6 drives in 4 bays. My biggest fear what the small fan size making allot of noise which is why i wanted the one with the 120mm fan.

I brought 2 of them from the A store. Much cheaper.

I had a hard time fitting them both in a HAF912 Advanced as it was so tight! Putting force on the cage when putting it in was tough but when it overshot the tool less latch it was even harder pushing it forward from inside the case!

Again, there is no way to control these fans and they are loud! i would suggest using a inline resistor (fan silencer) or just get new 80mm fans.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat product with a couple small flaws

Pros: Adds a great deal of flexibility for replacing drives without having to open your case or pull it out of your desk.

Cons: The connectors for power and SATA would be better placed on the lefthand side of the unit (as viewed from the top/front) rather than the right. Might make this unit impossible to use in some cases, if they're right up against the motherboard (I have a larger case and can luckily access via the right side of the case). As mentioned in the other review - the spring clips on the front doors holding the drives in are not very strong. I was getting I/O errors on one of my drives, so I tried the pencil eraser trick, as suggested in the previous review - which solved the problem. You need to make sure the drives are definitely firmly pressed into place for the SATA/power connections in the back.

Other Thoughts: The plastic keys are a little chintzy, I already broke one by attempting to turn it the wrong direction, so be careful with them.

5 out of 5 eggsBest in Class

Pros: Very sturdy and well made. Doors are very smooth and getting drives in and out are a breeze.

Cons: The metal strips inside of each door that press against the drives to seat them are a little narrow and probably won't properly contact the back of a Velociraptor, causing it to not appear in the system or only intermittently work, but all of these types or racks seem to be made this way so I can't honestly remove an egg. Pull the eraser out of a new pencil, stuff it behind the strip so it sticks up enough to hit the Raptor's heat sink and voila (THAT'S HOW YOU SPELL IT, NOT "WALLA" OR WHATEVER!), problem solved.

Other Thoughts: There are literally dozens of gadgets that do exactly what this one does on the market. They cram three 3.5" drives into two 5.25" slots and use 2 molex power connectors to power three drives. Most of them are cheap, flimsy, junk. I am an IT professional and have built many servers around many different models of them.

This one costs more than most, but is head and shoulders above the rest and is worth the money, even if there isn't a little video game on each door.
