Just What I Was Looking For
- Pros: Solid construction, has a fan, has a quiet fan, and no extra electronics to drive the price up. Just a HDD mounting solution with a cooling fan for good measure. Went into my old MidTower case without any fuss at all.
- Cons: Fan could push more air and the cable could be a bit longer.
- Other Thoughts: This is exactly what I needed. I didn't what one of those housings with RAID and fancy LED's blinking all over the place. I just wanted to put some HDD's up into some unused 5.25 bays. And having the fan there is just common sense.
Quiet and Nice Fit
- Pros: Fit right into case w/o modifications
Holds 4 3.5" drives in 3 full-size bay area Fan blows over drives into case Super quiet Best price when compared to other online retailers
- Cons: Fan seems slow.
Fan connection for motherboard connect too short for full-tower case, molex adapter connects to motherboard connector for direct power feed (included).
- Other Thoughts: I have an old solid steel tower case, was once sold by SCO for it's Unix servers. Case has internal area for 5 3.5" and an additional 5 full-size front bay slots. Sometimes drives can bring up the heat in a system when using internal 3.5" areas and there isn't much of a way to cool them down. This cooler was a simple, and low-cost, way to get this done. Instead of heatsinks on each drive, and losing space in drive area, this allowed a constant flow of air over four drives at the top of the case. This airflow is pulled out back of case by rear case fan and PS fan. Pretty smart idea. A minor hum from fan, but not even noticable.
I hooked it directly to power supply, fan is running full speed. Suprised it's throttled so low.
Four eggs due to short cable for motherboad control, and slow fan. But don't let that deter your purchase! Dropped my drive temp by about 15 degrees F.
Chassis slipped right in, so no case mods were necessary.
Great 4 in 3 device
- Pros: Fits perfectly in my RC-534 case. Nice clean appearance and integration.
- Cons: Included filters are somewhat resetrictive, but I just took them out.
