5 out of 5 eggsHappy Customer

Pros: Quiet
Excellent Design
Extra Hard Drive screws
Vibration Dampening grommets

Cons: Missing some of the smaller screws to fully secure the cooler to the case. (The hard drive screws are too big.)

Other Thoughts: Fan flow could be stronger. I don't care about noise. The engineers probably had to balance flow and noise.

1 out of 5 eggsItem had Manufacturing Defect

Pros: Unknown, requested RMA after opening box and checking product.

Cons: The left side was missing all 8 HDD mounting holes, so the HDD's could not be properly mounted. This is an obvious manufacturing defect that seems unlikely to only affect the item that I received. I did contact CoolerMaster support via online chat, thinking they would want to examine the defective item. However, I was told to simply return the item to NewEgg.

Other Thoughts: Not happy that I had to pay for return shipping when the item has an obvious manufacturing defect.

4 out of 5 eggsInteresting Concept

Pros: This device did exactly what I expected, it allowed me to put four hard drives in three unused 5 1/4 in. drive bay.

Cons: You have to remove the entire unit should you want to add/remove/re-position a drive. The design basically pressure mounts into the bay, requiring some force to manipulate. Invariably, I forget that a fan is also part of this unit, and end up bending the pins on my motherboard as I pull it out.

Other Thoughts: This unit works by sandwiching the bay converter between two sheets of mounting aluminum spaced with rubber for shock absorption (I presume). This makes it a little complicated when removing/adding the device by forcing you to hold both sides when the other hand would normally be holding/feeding the fan cable.

Overall I would recommend the purchase of this device.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Straightforward install, holds drives with good spacing for cooling. Fan is reasonably quiet, has a filter and the price point is spot on. Worked with my antec drive rails.

Cons: Requires disassembly for fan filter cleaning. Metal front-piece is stuck on with 3 small pieces of doublestick. Mine fell off twice in 24 hours since I owned it. Glued it back on.

Other Thoughts: This gives the bare minimum for a cooled 4-in-3 drive cage. There are more featureful/better built units, but the cost is 3-4x with tiny fans for cooling.

5 out of 5 eggsJust the thing for those unused 5.25" bays

Pros: Transforms 3 unused 5.25 slots to a hold 4 3.5" drives as advertised. There seems more than adequate clearance between each of the middle drives (6-7 mm). Perfect for my application: converting an old tower to a FreeNAS box array. The fan is as quiet as one could want. Since this isn't the only cooling in a case, air flow seems more than adequate as many cases have absolutely no fan directly cooling the drives.

Cons: As noted by just about everyone, access to the filter and fan could be *much* improved.

Minor gripes: The two-tone black and silver with cheesy CoolMaster logo won't win any design awards but it's not garish. Likewise, the blue inner light isn't all that distracting either, so both those who like, and those who dislike, blue LEDs should be about equally happy.

Other Thoughts: I liked it enough that I bought another!

4 out of 5 eggsOVERALL great casing (can be noisy)

Pros: It looks great in my HAF X Blue Edition. Pretty much looks like it is part of the case. MOST of the time it's quiet. Easy to install. Has a mesh filter. Great idea for filling 3 extra bay slots.

Cons: The front of the casing is not made to detach so it's not easy to clean out unless you open your case and use air from inside blowing out or you just pull the case out. Since the front is not made to come off you can not take out the mesh filter to clean it off. MOST of the time it's quiet, but after about 5 or so months, mine has begone to, on random occasions, make a loud revving noise when my computer is starting up and sometimes I can't make it go away until I tap the sides of my case where the fan is located.

Other Thoughts: You can make the front of the casing come off, but you could ultimately end up breaking something since it's not made to. I mainly brought it down 1 egg because of the noise it sometimes makes on start-up.

5 out of 5 eggslooks nice

Pros: It's good looking cage with really quiet fan with blue illumination on the front which has nice front design which matches my black & silver computer case!!!! I really like how cool it looks but don't like the design when i have to take out the whole cage in order to add or remove HDDs.

Cons: nice looking front design, really quiet fan with blue illumination.

Other Thoughts: Wish it was easy hot-swap cage that not require take it out for adding HDD's bot for this price wery good buy!!

4 out of 5 eggsGood for the need

Pros: Holds (4) 3.5 HDD very well in a (3) 5.25 space. Fans are quiet and has vibrations pads between the outside mounting plate and inner hard drive screws.

Cons: Doesn't come with enough screws to mount 4 hard drives with 4 screws. LED lights go very dim and burn out after a year or so. No quick disconnect for the hard drives, but i knew that going in.

Other Thoughts: I now have three of them inside my server tower and they work great.

5 out of 5 eggsDoes what it was designed to do

Pros: Holds 4 Drives in 3 bays with quiet fan cooling. Well constructed. Fits well in a Cooler Master HAF 912 case.

Cons: Requires removal of entire cage in order to add or delete a drive. A slide-lock drive retainer design similar to that used in Cooler Master cases would be a nice improvement.

Other Thoughts: The supplied plastic cage front is attached with screws and can be removed so that the cage and fan can be mounted behind three of the perforated 5.25" bay covers of the HAF 912. The plastic latch clips of the bay covers need to be trimmed down a bit to clear the fan. This preserves the clean stock look of the HAF 912 case.

There is a blue LED mounted at each corner of the fan. So far, I don't mind that look through the bay covers. One wire to each diode can be clipped if LED illumination is not wanted or the entire fan can be replaced with a standard 120 mm non-illuminated fan.

Not too shabby

5 out of 5 eggs
It does everything that it needs to, converts 3 5.25" bays to 4 3.5" bays with a nice 120mm fan in front.
