Instructions.... might as well came without them.. I still can find some of the things it told me to configure. Says to place the jump of (J3 I think)... still can't find it!
Plastic front breaks easily... I think I've handled eggs less delicate then you can handle this tray!

Other Thoughts: 1st one I received arrived broken (was packaged very nicely by newegg). I could see how cheaply it was made at that point because the hinge was what failed and it was thin plastic. Second arrived OK... box was badly damaged (this one was on newegg... VERY Poorly packaged.. was just in a padded envelope.. really newegg?!?!?), but product was ok... i'm scared to remove the drive, as I'm scared the plastic parts will break off again. It does do it's job after installed. Keeps track of the amount of time the hard drive is working and tells it's temp... with an overheat alarm.

Bottom line... If you need a cheap.. and I mean CHEAP solution... then this is it... just be prepared for it to break.

With this last delivery and how it was packaged, I'm sad to say, this may be my last time buying from newegg. I've done plenty of business with newegg and this is a first... I guess the hard economy is hitting them too, but when I pay the same shipping (2-day).. I expect the same quality shipping.. very displeased in the product overall and with newegg. gave 2 stars since the product does work and my fault for getting what I pay for.

Other Thoughts: Thinking of getting a second one, opening the case with all my connections and rats nest of wires on the back of PC can get messy,
this is so sweet to use, effortless to HOT Swap with win 7.

Pros: Its cool i can hot swap a drive but its not tooless.

Cons: Cheap construction. Not tooless. drive got hotter in this "Icy Dock"

Cons: - VERY flimsy design. I broke the plastic tab on the front within 30 seconds of using it
- Latching mechanism is quite poor. I don't even know why the plastic hinge part is attached to the front: I suppose it's to let you pull it open. The thing actually just has a non-locking latch for the tray

Other Thoughts: Stay away from this. The fact that other people have had bad electrical wiring is reason enough. I should have listened to them and bought a different product. The latching on the front is terrible, and the whole unit just feels flimsy.

Save yourself and purchase a different tray.

Pros: I have purchased these and rated these before. I love being able to quickly remove and change Hard Drives, as well as having the isolation and cooling these Mobile Rack mounts provide. These are now rated SATA III on the Icy Dock Website. They look great on the front of any PC. I believe these units are more rugged then the plug in modules now being offered in some Computer cases.

Cons: No real drawback that I feel worth mentioning.

Other Thoughts: I continue to purchase and use these units in my computer builds. They just work. A couple I have had in service for 4 years still work great, cooling fans and all.

Pros: Very solid and sturdy construction. Has high-quality finish and workmanship. LCD screen is awesome and the blue lighting matches the rest of my PC.

There are a lot of little things that may not seem like they matter but do enhance the experience, such as the flip-down panel that covers the bay when the tray is pulled out, good alignment of different parts of the bay's frame, ease of installation and the inclusion of both standard Molex and SATA power connectors (just don't use both at the same time). Minor features that show attention to detail.

The tray is a nice, snug fit in the bay, not too tight and not loose at all. The drive mounts well in the tray, too (except of the screw-in part, see "Cons") and everything feels like it fits perfectly.

Also, this maintains good temps for the drive and the drive I hot-swap is always either cool or lukewarm to the touch. ICY DOCK, an appropriate brand name indeed!

Cons: I absolutely hate the screw-in mechanism for securing the hard drives. It adds extra painstaking tasks to switching out hard drives that should be unnecessary.

It won't really bother users who only swap occasionally but frequent swapping will wear down your patience with screwing and unscrewing the new and old drives every single time.

Should be tool-less, especially with the premium price and the impressive feature-set it already has, so I dock half an egg from an otherwise 5-egg product.

Other Thoughts: It may be priced higher than other desktop-class hard-drive bays but you definitely get what you pay for here. However, the screw-in drive-mounting might be a deal-breaker for some people.

Pros: easy to install. i like the lcd display. it gives my pc a better appearance. like a very high tech state of the art pc. keeps my hi... 2t high performance hard drive cool. i already order a second one.my best friend has four and his pc looks like it came from an alien ship.

Other Thoughts: good investment. highly recomended.

Pros: Nice feature set. Fit easily in a Cooler Master Scout Case. Has output connectors for status LED's, Power, HD Access, Fan failure, Overheat.

Cons: Latch and front panel feel cheap and flimsy. HD install is not tool less.

Other Thoughts: Installing the HD in the cart is tricky. The space is tight and there is a series of wires running across the front of the cart. I had to use a toothpick to "shoehorn" the drive into the cart in order to keep it from pinching the wires. At minimal cost a guard could have been put over the wires to protect them.

Pros: Looks cool, Interfaces well with my WD Raptor. Keeps my hard drive cool, and separate from the rest of my computer. Good for my needs (primary HDD Storage). I am not going to be using this as a hot swap bay, but more as a cooling center for my HDD.

Cons: LCD Screen does not have many functions (but thats not a big deal), latch is plastic and less sturdy than I would like.

Other Thoughts: Only a 2 stage lock instead of 3 as advertised (NEWEGG PLEASE UPDATE SPECS!!!). I do not have a problem with the latch mechanism on the front because I am using this to house my boot drive, and will not take it out often, but frequent removal may cause problems (I have read other reviews).

Pros: Nice looking unit, but...

Cons: I've had 8 of these installed in a raid tower. Over the past year 3 have failed mysteriously. In the end I traced the issue to a bad sensor. Basically the unit would complain that the drive was over heating, even though it wasn't even close to being hot. In the worst case unit would take the drive offline, thus screwing up the raid system.

'Supposedly' you can adjust the temperature setting for the alarm. I tried doing this in an effort to try to stop the units from taking the drives off line. Anyway, after several attempts of following the alarm setting instructions, I gave up as my setting never seemed to 'stick'.

For me these units are worse than a single star. They cost me A LOT of time and aggravation.

Other Thoughts: After researching alternatives I'm lean towards either a simpler design (no alarms, etc) in the form of the BYTECC BT-135E-BK (I have a few of these and never have had a problem), Or I'm also tempted to try the Granite Digital Sata Vue LCD Hot-Swap Tray. Unfortunately these latter units are not sold by New Egg.
