Pros: Loads and unloads well from the Icy dock.

Cons: Overpriced and no protection for drive when out of the dock.

Pros: Does what it's supposed to.

Cons: The problem with Icy Dock's tray is that it doesn't protect the HDD at all. The whole point of being able to have swappable HDDs is that, obviously, you'll have a disk that's not in the drive while a different one is. The one that you've removed in that nice Icy Dock frame is completely unprotected. A little static discharge, scrape it against something and knock of one of those itty-bitty resistors on the bottom of the drive, bend a pin.... Your data might just be toast.

Hey Icy Dock! Build a sleeve around your frame, will ya?

Pros: Decent quality, no problems so far.

Cons: Not really a tray, its more of a bracket. Provides no protection for the drive when it is out of the enclosure. Expensive for what you get, but no other choice.

Other Thoughts: If you have an Icy Dock enclosure your only choice is an Icy Dock tray.

Pros: Price is perfect (considering we buy $200 1TB drives). Works as advertised

Cons: Doesn't protect HD adequately for storage without other wrapping when it isn't in the docking station.

Other Thoughts: Awesome product.

Pros: I prefer Icy Dock enclosures for SATA drives so the removable tray idea is great.

Pros: I don't understand what the big fuss is about the price. This does consist of metal plates and a spring loaded locking arm, so its not a cheap build. I have no problems with it.

Other Thoughts: I use my Icy Dock to house drive used in Video Editing. I find it is a great thing to have if you have a project on a 500gb drive and want to work on another project. Of course, if the need is not there for you to get one, so be it. But is shouldn't effect the rating of said product. I buy sleds for removable drives that cost 10 times this amount, seems to take the "affordability" to a different level.

Pros: The pros relate to the product as a whole: The Icy Dock external HD enclosure (in my case, the eSATA version) is a great product. Fast, quiet, good-looking, convenient.

Cons: This whole "razor blades" pricing model for the trays. They were initially $25 or so-an audaciously outrageous price. Now they are simply outrageously priced at $16. I doubt New Egg is behind this; the manufacturer probably wanted to see just how crazy tech geeks were. Well, I'm still holding out, because I don't swap my drives out often enough for this to be worth not messing with six screws. If they drop down below ten bucks, I'd think about it, but even at that price, it adds up pretty quickly for multiple drives.

Other Thoughts: I'd still recommend the Icy Dock to anyone who asks, and if you can get extra trays as part of a bundled price, more power to you. I guess I'm just on the wrong side of the supply vs. demand equation right now. No big deal, there are worse things in life.

Pros: If you want to be able to quickly swap out drives with your Icy Dock enclosure you have to get one of these. Simple design and installation.

Cons: My tray button to release the arm doesn't pop out very well when in the enclosure, but it isn't a very big deal. It is probably just one of the rare messed up ones, but I got it for free so oh well.

Other Thoughts: I got my second tray for free because Newegg was having a combo deal to get another tray for free with purchase of the enclosure.

Pros: Thick metal rails, slides smoothly enough into the bay.

Cons: Lever is fragile. Promised drive cover feature (to protect the underside) was never implemented. At $24 a pop might as well as just get a whole new enclosure for about twice the cost. That way you get another tray AND enclosure.

Other Thoughts: I know this is a premium product but you still have to balance cost and usefulness. Unless you have a serious need to swap several drives often, you would be better served by just using one tray or buying another enclosure.

Pros: Fits in the ICY dock case and high quality.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I got it as a combo with the case, so pretty darn cheap.
