Taking up only two 5.25" bays, the MB453IPF-B offers three bays for your SAS and SATA HDD/SSDs and fully supports dual channel SAS. Using our unique EZ-Trays, you're able to install both 2.5" drives and 3.5" form factor drives with complete ease. Space Saving Design

The MB453IPF-B DataCage Classic has been designed to same level of quality, build, and service you'd expect from an Icy Dock product. The backplane module allows up to three 2.5" and 3.5" SAS/SATA drives, while only consuming two 5.25" bays. The module requires only two 4 pin Molex cables to power the entire device.

Advanced Environment Monitoring System

The advanced environment monitoring function of the DataCage Classic provides detailed information visually for quick access. Drive power, access, overheat, hard drive and fan failure status are all indicated via LED indicators on the front of the DataCage Classic unit. Additionally, the built-in alarm will sound to notify the user when the unit begins to overheat (temperatures exceeding 65 degrees Celsius).

*The hard drive fail signal is provided by external host such as a RAID controller card or a motherboard. Please make sure your controller card / motherboard can provide hard drive fail signal via voltage pin in order to use this function.

Efficient Cooling

The DataCage Classic uses an aluminum body for efficient heat dissipation for various types of applications. An active cooling solution is required as passively cooling your drives may not be enough, so an removable modular 80mm cooling fan is installed that can be easily detached and maintained if needed without the removal of the entire unit.

Interchangeable Storage

The New EZ-Tray accommodates all types of drives ranging from 2.5" to 3.5" form factors. Now you can have the best of both worlds – the blazing fast speeds from SSDs and the large capacity storage from 3.5" drives in a single cage. With support for both dual channel SAS and SATA 3 interface, you can install a vast majority of drives on the market.

Additionally, the MB453IPF-B has kept the same interchangeable EZ-Tray used in MB45X, MB15X, MB876, MB559, and MB561 series which allows you to continue to use the same trays from these series, or our compatible external 3.5" models without any issues regarding switching to new designs. Drives are very easy to install / remove and require almost no downtime at all. This allows for easy replacement in case of RAID failure, storage, or transporting of data.
