5 out of 5 eggsThis thing rocks!!

Pros: Literally can take a 2.5" laptop drive (SSD or Mechanical) and place it into a 3.5" bay. This includes Hotswap bays in my HP Z820, and dell C6100. So, this thing makes laptop drives go into places that were not designed to accomodate them. Perfect. All holes are exactly lined up for a "To SPEC" 3.5" drive. AWESOME!!!

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: Make sure you look at the sticker on top. It is alot easier to open that your brain assumes. My first thoughts were ooh, rubix cube... Then I saw the picture instructions and felt dumb.

4 out of 5 eggsFinicky But Gets The Job Done

Pros: Fits my crucial M500 perfectly without the adapter
High quality metal screw threads. The plastic mold is well made and precise.
The external case is the exact dimensions of a standard 3.5 so it should work in any application including oddball raid mounts, mac pro, etc.

Cons: Unlikely to get the install right on the first try.

The mechanism for locking the drive into place is a bad design, and puts unnecessary strain on the sata connector on the drive, as well as the adapter. It also fails to make a proper connection without fiddling with it. The drive must be pushed in by hand (without the use of the lever) as shown in the directions in order to work properly.

Other Thoughts: I used this with a crucial M500 in my 2008 mac pro. It took me 3 tries to get it working. The issue seems to be in the cantilever latching design.

I would not recommend it for anyone who needs to take the 2.5" drive in and out frequently, as the latching mechanism pushes the drive up and at an angle which is not good for the sata connectors. Once its in, it works fine and you can't beat the price.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent for Mac Pro 2009-2012

Pros: Works great in prior gen (2009-2012) Mac Pro. I use with an SSD drive, no problem.

Cons: None so far.

1 out of 5 eggsDOES NOT WORK WITH INTEL SSD

Pros: None. Did not work.

Cons: Motherboard and RAID controller both failed to recognize Intel S3500 SSD. We were going to have 24 SSDs in raid, needed an adapter to fit the 2.5 drives in 3.5 caddies. Thought these would be good. Serious fail.

2 out of 5 eggsI wanted MB882SP-1S-1B

Pros: Exact mounting holes as 3.5" HDD

Cons: No Tray Like in 1S-1B
Difficult To Open

Other Thoughts: WANTED MB882SP-1S-1B however because the video showcased MB882SP-1S-1B, I bought MB882SP-1S-2B not realizing I had to buy the MB882SP-1S-1B.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks as advertised

Pros: Makes it really easy and the 3.5" outside holes matched up perfectly with my Cooler Master case.

Cons: The first time I seated the drive, it didn't make contact properly internally. I had to pull the whole thing back out of the computer case and re-seat. It took more force than I would have expected.

2 out of 5 eggsWhat I needed, if it had worked

Pros: Affordable (when purchased on sale!), quick installation, handy drive-ejection feature if you planned to be switching out drives a lot. Had the correct mounting screw holes for adapting 2.5" SSD to a 2009 Mac Pro, which had been hard to find.

Cons: Hard to push drive into adapter/be sure it's correctly seated. Without cover closed on adapter, absolutely nothing holds drive in. Everything is just plastic.

My item was DOA. Thank goodness for Newegg returns!

Other Thoughts: If it had worked, I probably wouldn't have been bothered enough by the lack of ability to secure the drive in the adapter, but it seemed worth warning people about.

4 out of 5 eggsICY DOCK EZConvert MB882SP-1S-2B

Pros: Price, Airflow improved when top of "cage" is removed/or left off - it does not need to be put back on, its light weight and seems solid and well built

Cons: ON THE BOX "SPECS":

"Compatible Hard Disk Type": SATA I/II

IT DOES NOT SAY OR INCLUDE SATA III!

Per Newegg webpage and YouTube video, they specify specifically that this cage IS SATA III "ready" - HOWEVER AGAIN: THIS IS NOT STATED ON THE PRODUCTS BOX

This has me (GREATLY) worried/concerned

Havent finished my build yet and bought these on sale around July- havent used them and wont really know until I am able to do so (after comp is built)

HOPEFULLY these ARE SATA III ready!

Heads up / "FYI"

hope this helps!

3 out of 5 eggsMount Inserts Too Short

Pros: Works to the best of my knowledge.

Cons: Does not work with a SuperMicro X7DBU motherboard, or at least with the mounting trays. Apparently, according to Web Hosting Talk forums, some motherboards have a problem with these as the inserts (plugs) are a little too short, or don't make proper contact.

Other SuperMicro users had a similar problem.

Other Thoughts: I thought the "manual install" method was default.
