Other Thoughts: I've owned this product for a few months now and would definitely recommend it. Most of the things I could say about the unit are already covered in the literature promoting it, so I'll mention a few things that hopefully will be helpful to someone. For those wondering how the latching mechanism works out in practice, I found that the latching mechanism works very well but does take a moment to get use to. For instance, the latching mechanism must be in the open position in order to insert the drive fully into the bay. I did not find that intuitive at first, but now don't even notice (do it by habit). Definitely a unique design and has worked consistently and reliably. All the miniature parts that make it work look intelligently layed out. Looks like the unit will last a long time.

Also, for those with cases that may have clearance issues (such as a cover), 1/8 of an inch is how far the lock sticks past the front of the unit, so an 1/8 of an inch should be considered the minimum clearance required. Measurements were made with a tape measure vs. a more precise tool like a caliper, but should be close (also keep in mind that pc bays generally have a little play in them, so even a hair less than an 1/8" might work). I was able to install this unit in the Corsair Obsidian 550D without issue (it does hit and indent the foam on the front panel, but does not contact the metal door at all, a near perfect fit).

Also, I'm using this with a couple of Samsung SSD's and have found that heat buildup is not an issue at all. The drives stay quite cool even without any fan.

In short, the build quality is exceptional and does everything that I need it to.

Pros: This is just to clear some things up. There's a review for this product that says it's not compatible with a 3.5" bay. That's absolutely correct, but if the guy had payed more attention, he'd have seen that it is meant to slot into a 5.25" bay and accepts 3.5" HARD DRIVES.

Cons: n/a

Other Thoughts: Don't actually own the product, just figured I'd clear that up.

Pros: None. No chance to evaluate it electrically because it could not be mounted on the 3.5" bay.

Cons: It was amazing to find that the rack was not compatible with the standard 3.5" bay: The screw hole locations on the sides do not match those of 3.5" hard drive.

Other Thoughts: There are two SATA connectors on the back plane but that does not mean the rack can house two 2.5" hdds or ssds. I found that only one can be.

Pros: This hard drive bay is well constructed and has no plastic parts. My two OCZ drives, swap in and out with ease.

Cons: None.

Pros: I use this guy to transfer files from my work to home on an SSD. Works like it should, and looks good doing so. No problems during installation, but as martmann said, the SATA data cable doesn't lock. The latch/handle mechanism is pretty slick.

Cons: There are now spare trays for sale, but they're practically the same price as the unit itself! Might as well just buy another complete chassis!!!

Other Thoughts: The LED is quite dim. I would have liked it to be a little brighter, but I'd rather it be dim than completely obnoxious, like most LEDs are nowadays.

Pros: I have installed about 12 of these, and I own 3 myself. They are very solidly constructed, and look nice in your 2 1/2" bay next to your card reader!

These things are perfect for SSD drives and have nice ventilation. They are well worth the low price to protect and mount your solid state drive. I do a lot of system builds, and I buy these exclusively any time the build requires SSD!

Cons: Every single one that I have bought (12 total) has had 1 screw hole ever so slightly off. It doesn't cause the drive not to fit and it doesn't cause me to have to force anything, but its just not quite lined up right and bugs me for all of 10 seconds. It clearly hasn't stopped me from buying them! In fact, tomorrow I'm ordering 2 more for a client.

Pros: Pretty solid, build quality is good.

Cons: SATA data and power connectors do not latch in/pull out easily, what is this 2005?

What "esstek" said in his review:
The removable tray can not be bought separately, so you have to either buy more of this unit, or unscrew the 4 retaining screws when you want to swap drives.

Other Thoughts: Bought this at work for a software development PC (thats's why I don't show as a verified owner).
We want to be able to swap between about 4 different drives, now I have to get my boss to sign for 3 more of these things, guess I'll do more research next time.

Pros: This rack supports both 2.5" format HDD/SSD SATA and SAS drives, fitting in a 3.5" format HDD slot.

Cons: Even with a low wattage S2.5 Western Digital SAS drive installed, and positioned in front of two inlet fans, the SAS drive is hotter than desireable.

Other Thoughts: This neat little package would benefit from additional ventilation slots top and bottom. Additionally, to support additional cooling circulation, the package should have all the normal 3.5" HDD mounting points so a HDD cooler can easily be attached. I would also suggest threaded holes for standard 80mm and 60mm fans at the top / bottom ventilation slots.

Pros: Excellent product with great design

Cons: Build quality slightly flimsy, could be built a bit more solid

Other Thoughts: Icy Dock is apparently very proud of the "brand new EZ Slide Mini Trays, making drive interchangeability and maintenance completely hassle free", but just try and find additional units available for purchase! The complete lack of their availability kinda' makes this feature a moot point. *WHERE* are they, Icy Dock and Newegg?
