5 out of 5 eggsExcellent Product!

Pros: Now this made it all worth while! The Icy Dock will easily hold (2 )x 2.5" Form Factor SSD in a Desktop 3.5 " HD standard drive bay!

Once installed, it made an excellent "jumping off point" after inserting the 4 drive screws. I liked this design over the one that used its own SATA connectors. Simplicity rules. Now insertion/removal of SSDs s takes ax

too-less IS DEFINITELY THE WAT TO GO THESE DAYS, especially as pc makers and case makers follow their nose and replacement/upgrading is an afterthought!
Thanks New Egg and

Pros: Holds two and installs easily.

Cons: Was a tad disappointed that the right side of the SSD is just sitting there and wobbly. I think they should have put the spring mechanism on both sides. Not worth docking an egg, though.

2 out of 5 eggsGreat Idea, Mediocre Execution

Pros: Compact, tool-less, spring loaded.

Cons: The lower tray has a hole that runs the entire length of the slot on the non-spring-loaded side, that is nearly as tall as the slot itself (there is about a 3mm lip at the bottom edge).

The effect is that if you put an SSD in the lower slot, the spring will cause it to pop into the hole, causing the SSD to sit at an angle, and the spring to be bent side-ways.

I had to ram some folded cardboard between the separating rail and the top of the lower SSD in order to force it down far enough to catch on that 3mm lip at the bottom to keep it from popping into the hole repeatedly.

Other Thoughts: Beyond those two issues:
-1 things are not very snug, so your drive is going to potentially rattle around.
-2 Doesn't work with a tool-less case, as the mounting holes are too narrow to allow the rail-pins to be inserted (had to drill them out a bit)
-3 the SSD connection points are so close together that it is VERY challenging to make connectors fit - especially the power attachment. Using the straight SATA cables and single-ended SATA power connectors were the only way to get things to fit that tightly. I can easily see busting off the end of your SSD connector (has happened to me in a different build by putting too much shearing pressure on the connector, which is very easy to do by accident).

5 out of 5 eggsThe Tool-Less Wonder

Pros: Holds 2 SSDs securely without tools, allowing for quick swapping of drives without having to mess with screws.

Cons: Half-height (0.28") SSD's like the Samsung 840 are held solidly on the side with the spring and flop loosely on the side without, but unless you're planning on sticking your case in a dryer that won't matter for average use.

Other Thoughts: Other users have mentioned that the bracket is constructed funny and mounts the drives halfway down where the power and SATA cables can't reach- just turn the bracket around and it reaches just fine with the ports perfectly lined up.

I did have some trouble trouble fitting this unit into the 3.5" drive bays for my HAF 922- one of the pins on the tool-less drive adapter came out while installing the drive and had to be re-inserted back into the adapter. But once that was taken care of, everything was peachy.

The PLASTIC spring holding the drive in place is not strong enough to hold the drive in place while you're plugging in your power or SATA cables- but you just have to hold the drive in place by hand and they install just fine. Still worth 5 stars!

5 out of 5 eggsDang Cool

Pros: Easy, snap-in install for SSDs or 2.5 in HDs. When coupled with slide in brackets that come with many cases you end up with a very clean install.

Cons: more expensive than some of the other brackets out there. With the rebate however, its worth every extra cent.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: Fits perfectly in my mini-ITX case. I have a 256GB Crucial M4 SSD installed in the top slot, and a 750GB 7200RPM 2.5" laptop drive in the bottom slot. Drives installed very easily and are secure. Plan to buy another one.

Cons: None.
