Pros: Three hard drives in the space of 2 optical drives plus if your disk controller supports it, you can make hot swaps. Great for testing new drives without installing them permanently, for make back ups and for initializing and copying files prior to replacing old drives. With the ICY DOCK adapter you can use it with SSDs too.

Cons: It can be a tight fit in the case which can cause the drives to bind going in and as already stated the door hinges are plastic and can break so never put much strain trying to open or close the doors. Check the fit on some drives before you install it and determine if it is device itself because I have seen the case fit distort it so it binds. If it binds you may need to take it out and spread the case opening slightly. I had to to that on one case and then never had another issue with it.

Other Thoughts: I have been using several of these for over 5 years with the adapter, ICY DOCK EZConvert MB882SP-1S-2B for SSDs. The adapters also work for putting SSDs in regular HD cages. They have been so handy for testing drives, and even building new systems, I can hardly think of how I would do without them.

Pros: -Great concept, super easy to swap drives.
-Built in cooling is nice.
-USB 3.0 ports.
-Worked out of the box.

Cons: - Drive bay opening levers indeed seem fragile. So caution needs to be used whenever opening a drive bay.
-Power buttons are impossible to press without some kind of tool. I have small hands.
-Fan is very noisy at high speed. Will need to be replaced.

Other Thoughts: This WILL NOT FIT into an apevia xqpack2 case, without actually modifying the case. I spent over an hour bending the aluminum at the top of the bay frame to get it to go in. I guess in the design process they figured there would be free space under the 2 5inch bays. Unfortunately, in the xqpack2 there is a flat aluminum surface area right under the lower bay drive - and it's too high for the flexcage to slide in, but not too high for 2 actual CD Drives?? What is that all about?

Pros: Great concept. Tray-less is much easier to use than having to screw in HDDs to a tray.

Cons: Bottom Tray broke within 3 minutes. Much of the cage is made out of metal but the hinge is plastic and seems to break easily. Also the top power button was defective and all the on/off buttons are hard to push.

Other Thoughts: have to send it back for a replacement RMA

Pros: Well built solid cabinet.

Cons: Small limit switches (on/off power buttons) difficult to activate with average sized fingers. Top power switch dead on arrival. Twice the cost for return shipping...go figure.

Pros: I am using this drive cage in a Linux system (Kubuntu 13.04) and it works great. In fact, the speed is much faster with the same drives than a previous drive cage I was using. Placing three drives into a space that before accommodated only two is wonderful for my packed mid-tower case. The USB ports being 3.0 rather than just 2.0 is also a plus.

Cons: None so far.
