Pros: Hot-swapping works.

Cons: Where to begin?
This unit is 100% plastic, and the unit isn't very well built, lots of design issues.
For example, the locking mechanism is really cheap, and the plastic clips don't look like they can withstand repeated tray removal. I am not against using plastic, but the parts that have lots of wear & tear should be made of metal, and that includes the opening mechanism.
This unit is supposed to have a fan, and it does, at the bottom, however, in my 3 tests for this unit, it kept the HD at 44C, with the other HDs in some other racks in the same case were at 38C. Remember, this is supposed to have a fan directly under the HD, yet the temps were HIGHER!.
Since this is entirely plastic, instead of metal, all the heat stays close to the HD with not enough air circulation, and no way for the HD to transfer heat since there is no metal contact anywhere to help with radiant heat.
Maybe a stronger fan will help, dunno, but, right now, it is way too hot.

Other Thoughts: A dedicated power button instead of a key is a OK tradeoff, though, that feels cheap as well.
Might be good for occasional short term use, but that is about it.

Pros: Easy to install and use, great value for $$

Other Thoughts: Got one of these for a swappable backup hard drive. The caddy for the hard drive is a great way to give the hard drive a little protection for taking offsite. Going to get a second one (mainly for another caddy insert) so I can switch between two drives. It would be nice if they sold the caddy separately, but the whole thing is cheap enough that I don't mind so much.

Pros: Is it possible you have not turned the ON-OFF power switch to ON? Strange as it seems we've found a number of users who have failed to activate that switch.

Cons: The device is not configured by the manufacturer so that the mobile rack will accommodate a 2 1/2" SSD without a user fashioned workaround. Otherwise, a superb product for a desktop PC.

Cons: Not working

Other Thoughts: HDD works on USB docking station but not this device > tested mobo sata port and tried different sata cables but to no avail!
