4 out of 5 eggsFunctional but not the easiest to assemble...

Pros: This works great for getting 2.5" SSDs into 3.5" hotswap bays. Fit right into my ASUS hotswap bays and SATA interface worked without issue.

Cons: Getting the screws into the bracket to secure the SSDs is a little difficult and frustrating because of the offset of the holes. Better have a magnetic screw driver, but if you're like me, I don't use magnetic tools during builds.

2 out of 5 eggsExcellent Prototype

Pros: Good idea. Good materials and good circuit board.

Cons: 4 out of 4 was not a fit in 2 different Supermicro HotSwap bays.
But I was expecting that based on what I was reading here.
Once I worked out what the shortcomings were, fixed all 4 adapters 20 minutes each.
Lined up the boards position by bending the studs it mounts to, with the help of another 3.5 in. SATA drive.
Then had to elongate the screw holes mounting the 2.5 inch drives.

Other Thoughts: I guess this is where the Chinese "shine", low tech equipment, OK design, but clearly NO precision to it.
NO surprise though, the Chinese trained us well by now, we are expecting these "almost" ready pieces from them.
But again its 20 bucks, what do we expect.
Wish we would make these pieces here in the USA, pay twice as much and have more jobs, and it would fit.

4 out of 5 eggsGreat design

Pros: -Great design
-Great packaging
-Includes screws

Cons: -Sandforce based SSD not detected by motherboard

Other Thoughts: I bought this adapter to use with a brand new Sandforce based SSD (SataIII 6Gbps) and a Vantec EZ-Swap 4 hot swap bay. My motherboard is an Asrock 880G U3S3. The SSD was not detected by the motherboard when used in this adapter and the Vantec hot swap bay, after removing the drive and connecting it directly to the motherboard it was detected without issue. At this point I am going to chalk-up the problem to being the Vantec bay and Sandforce controller of the SSD not being compatible with one another. Great looking adapter though, just hope I actually get to use it one day.

5 out of 5 eggsdoes what it is supposed to well

Pros: Sturdy case that fits right into the hot swap bays of my servers. The whole unit feels nice and solid.

Cons: Harder than you might think to navigate those screws in there.

Other Thoughts: I bought this to allow me to put ssds and 2.5 drives into hot swap 3.5 slots. It has done exactly that. I'm pleased.

3 out of 5 eggsWorks well, fits badly

Pros: This allows me to use 2.5" SSD in a 3.5" hotswap tray. Electrically it seems to work well.

Cons: Getting the screws started when attaching the 2.5" drive to the adapter requires either a magnetic phillips or some gymnastics involving balancing a small screw on top of a screwdriver and insting upward into a blind hole.

Worse yet, the adapter is just a little taller and wider than it should be. Some spirited work with a hammer and pliers needs to get the adapter to fit in a Supermicro hot swap tray. In addition the alignment between the adapter mouting holes and the SATA connector is a bit off. The only way to get the adapter to work was to only loosely attach the screews.

Other Thoughts: Will not buy again unless I hear the dimensional issues have been corrected, but it did eventually do the rush job I needed it to do.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks for me

Pros: 2.5" SSD fit fine. Fit fine in my HP server.

Cons: Pain to screw the drive in - set the screw on head of the screwdriver and hold the drive over it.

No ventilation. SSD didn't seem even warm so hopefully it won't be an issue.

5 out of 5 eggsGood SSD solution.

Pros: Perfectly mimics a 3.5 drive form where caddies and fixed plug arrangements won't accommodate a 2.5 HDD/SSD.

Perfect for SSD, as long as they run cool.

Heavy steel construction.

Cons: Absolutely NO ventilation - would NOT use for HDDs or anything that needs meaningful cooling.

Full size 3.5 case - takes up the ENTIRE bay.

Price - could be cheaper for what it is.

Other Thoughts: These were lifesavers in upgrading several of our Lenovo integrated workstations to SSD, all of which had caddies and unique 3.5 mount arrangements. Many SSD adapters will NOT work where a caddy and/or fixed 3.5 form plug options arise. These DO, perfectly.

3 out of 5 eggsDoes Not Fit Well for my build

Pros: Egging from midpoint...

+1 for fast shipping
+1 for free shipping

Cons: -1 for non-free RMA
-1 for restocking fee

Other Thoughts: This item did not quite fit well with my build as the design, IMO, is poor and can even damage other parts of your PC if not careful due to the hard/sharp edges.

5 out of 5 eggsJust what the Dr. Ordered

Pros: Allows mounting of a 2.5" drive in a hot-swap or rackmount server drive caddy/tray. Rugged construction, nothing complicated about it. Pre-mounted board is simply a 1-to-1 re-mapping of the pins to another SATA connector. Drive install is a snap; plenty of screwdriver room, includes screws (not pictured).

Cons: Only possible con are the included screws which are the standard hex-head PC screws; most hot-swap caddies require screws with heads that are flush with the tray, so make sure you have some laying around or that the caddies you purchase include screws.

Other Thoughts: Fits flawlessly in Dell 11th-gen server trays, both hot-swap and cabled-in.
