5 out of 5 eggsJust as advertised...

Pros: This is exactly what it claims to be:
* A black metal mounting assembly
* Can hold one or two 2.5" drives
* 12 screws:
* 4 standard threaded screws to mount the bracket to your case
* 8 fine-threaded screws to mount two drives to the bracket.

I have a single SSD in mine, so I have room to grow.

Cons: Cons? The color. I *really* wanted neon orange with neon green tiger stripe. (yes, kidding...)

Other Thoughts: I'm not quite sure what folks are saying about the need for SATA power adapters/extensions/etc. I use the plugs as-is from my Rosewill power supply & bob's your uncle.

Stop obsessing over a $5 part! Save it for something that actually costs real money.

This is a simple part for a simple task at a simple price. Take out a second mortgage on the house to cover the $5, and JUST BUY THE THING...

4 out of 5 eggsWorked Fine

Pros: Metal
Black
Plenty of screws
Variety of mounting holes

Cons: For whatever reason, the larger screw holes don't match up 1:1 with the same screw holes on a normal 3.5" HDD. It still installed, but I could not get it to fit using the exact same holes in the drive try. The 2.5" drive installed in this without any issues though. Maybe I just didn't play with it enough.

5 out of 5 eggsSimple. Functional. Sturdy.

Pros: -Allowed me to place a 2.5" SSD into the slide in slots for my old discontinued lian li pv-v1000 case easily.
-Metal construction.
-Comes with proper screws (for my install anyway.)

Cons: -Was priced $1 higher when I ordered it, then dropped down immediately after, but it's only $1.
-Seems like something that they should really toss in for free when you buy a hard drive, but that's not a knock on the product itself.

Other Thoughts: Overall it does what it's supposed to do. As some other reviewers have mentioned, there may be specific case configurations where this product isn't appropriate, but for me it worked as intended, so I have no real complaints.

3 out of 5 eggsGet something else if installing HDD

Pros: It's nicely painted metal and they include all required screws.
Price of 5-bucks is perfect for an item like this.
Good for 2 SSD in a floppy drive space.

Cons: They have placed the ledges and those four weird tabs, that have no purpose, so that they can contact the surface of the HDD circuit board. In time vibration & friction will guarantee metal to ckt board contact and then PSSZT ... say adios to stored data,
You *must* buy two SATA power extenders or converters cuz what everyone has said about the inability to make connections without crimping the power supply wire or breaking the drive connector is true. ...you might get by with one extender|converter. Convertors(SATA to Molex like N82E16812422787R) are 4-bucks each delivered so add that to the cost. Don't know if a SATA power to SATA power extension is the same price but point is one should not be required to buy any adapter just to use such an item.

Other Thoughts: If you install very carefully, pulling up on the HDD while using your other two hands to place and tighten the screws you CAN get a HDD to mount with a mm(maybe 2 mm) gap to provide separation. If you do not have 3 hands be prepared to take the longest time in the history of mounting drives to rails you have ever had.

For (2) SATA SSD with covers on both sides and mounting the assembly into a floppy drive space, it should be OK(don't know since I was mounting 2 HGST 1TB HDD) so they get a star for that.

I am disappointed as I planned on using these for a bunch of old cases with internal 3.5" slots("upgrades"). I suppose I'll have to get S'stone ... or another brand.

I won't be buying another Rosewill RDRD-11004.

--neognomic

Addendum: I bought N82E16812422770; it (or similar) will work for (low power) SATA SSD|HDD. I would not suggest it/similar for SAS2/3 HDD(possible instability at boot/full-load).
I updated/increased to 3 stars because it is useful for SDD and because one can mount a 10mm thick fan and one HDD/SDD and it will still fit into a floppy cage.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect Fit for HDD and SSD

Pros: Easy to install any 2.5-inch drive - SSD and HDD. See OTHER THOUGHTS below for more about mounting your drive(s).

Holds either one or two drives, your choice.

Comes with mounting screws for 2 drives.

Open bottom provides maximum airflow around drives to help keep them cool. All drives, even SSDs, heat up when working hard, usually when Writing/saving a large amount of data at once. If the drive gets too warm it will slow down the Write/save speed to protect itself (called "throttling"). By providing maximum airflow this bracket helps reduce the chance that will occur. Of course, having an intake fan at the front of your PC case helps, too!

Cons: none at this price.

Other Thoughts: Some reviews have suggested that their drives wouldn't fit in the bracket or the connectors were somehow blocked, etc. First, look at any 2.5-inch "laptop size" drive and you'll see that it has 4 mounting holes on the sides and 4 mounting holes on the bottom which are aligned EXACTLY with the holes on the sides. This is true for both regular old spinning hard drives (HDDs) and for SSDs. The mounting holes of the Rosewill bracket are precisely aligned in the same way.

The mounting holes on the bottom of the bracket are also precisely aligned with the bottom mounting holes of a 3.5-inch drive and, therefore, precisely aligned for mounting in a drive tray. The side mounting holes of on the outer edges of the bracket are similarly aligned for standard 3.5" hard drive cages that don't have drive trays.

We have a couple of PC cases with direct-mount drive cages and a couple with drive trays. These 2.5-to-3.5 brackets fit perfectly in all of our cases, no problem.

When mounting two drives one above the other you can install them both facing the same direction or facing opposite directions. If your SATA data cables both have L-shaped connectors then the cable on the top-mounted drive will block access to the SATA connector on the drive mounted below. By facing them in opposite directions you will have clear access to the connectors on both drives, if necessary.

My GF's PC has an SSD and an HDD mounted in one of these brackets with both drives facing the same direction. The only problem when hooking up the drives was that the power supply cable is a bit stiff so i had to connect 1 drive then curve the cable or loop it since the connectors are several inches apart on the cable. On many power supplies now there are modular cables which are very flexible so it's just that much easier to connect 2 drives mounted close together.

4 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works well. Comes with variety of screws. Holes on the side match well with PNY SSD

Cons: Does not have holes on the bottom to attach to drive bay in the Cosmos case. Had to use duct tape

5 out of 5 eggsSimple, sturdy, works.

Pros: Easily puts two 2.5" SSDs in a single 3.5" bay. Metal, so it is sturdy, and screw placement is precise, using regular screws, not those special self-tapping plastic ones.

Cons: None found.

Other Thoughts: I believe this was my second purchase of these. If you've got a small case (e.g. an Inwin BP655), this is a good way to add more drives than the "standard" allowance.

5 out of 5 eggsSimple

Pros: Does what it says, feels pretty sturdy. I honestly expected less.

Cons: Only thing I would change is to have the actual SSD mount towards the front so that it sits flush with my mechanical hard drive.
