Features

Features
Designed specifically for the existing 3.5" bays of newer PC chassis, backplanes and RAID-type enclosures. Supports any capacity 2.5" SATA or SAS HDD, as well as SSD (Solid State) and makes it appear to the system as a 3.5" HDD. Hard drive not included.

Accommodates drive heights up to 15mm. Metal construction and airflow spacing design for heat dissipation. Ideal for transactional workstations because 2.5" HDDs have faster seek times and process transactions faster than a 3.5" HDD. 5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for Dell hotswap bays

Pros: Does exactly what I needed: Lets me put 2.5" drives in the 3.5" bays of my Dell servers. Other adapters that put the drive in the center of the bay don't work for me, since they don't align the SAS port in the right way.

Cons: Only possible to fit in three of the screws that secure the adapter into the hard disk tray. Not a major issue, feels plenty secure without it, and I don't think it would be possible to make an adapter that fit all four screws without messing up the alignment of the SAS port.

5 out of 5 eggsbuy it

Pros: Fit perfectly. Makes a very simple transition from the small to the large. Our SSDs are now snugly fit into our hot swap bays!

Cons: none.

Other Thoughts: I researched this before buying and everyone has said that this is the only one that works. I can tell you that this one worked for me

5 out of 5 eggsWorks Great!

Pros: These make the form factor of a 2.5" drive exactly like a 3.5" drive. Connectors & screw holes are in the same place

Cons: a little pricey, but not excessively so.

Other Thoughts: The 2.5" drive is held in with two metal tangs on one side & two screws on the other. Because the 2.5" drive occupies one of the normal 3.5" drive screwholes, only three screws can be used for mounting. This seems to work fine on the two computers I've mounted these in.

If I was operating in a high shock & vibration environment, I'd be more worried about the two metal tangs than the lack of a fourth screw.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect for ssd in hotswap trays

Pros: Excellent for putting SSD's in hotswap trays. It lines up the connector perfectly.

Cons: There are only 3 screw hole's to hold the drive. This isn't a problem for SSD's but I wouldn't want to put anything mechanical in it.

3 out of 5 eggsMay not work with trayless backplanes

Pros: Simple construction, fair quality metal.

Cons: Does not work with my trayless bay [ http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16817707117 ]. This renders the point of the adapter useless for my purpose, but for a compatible tray-accomodating bay, should work perfectly for others.

I still think that for the price, there should have been metal along the entire back and front of the adapter to accomodate trayless designs, so I am rating 3 of 5 eggs.

Other Thoughts: I should be able to modify the adapter to accomodate my trayless enclosure.

5 out of 5 eggsWorked well.

Pros: The fit is great and all the required screws arrived with it.

Cons: It is a bit pricey.

Other Thoughts: I used it to install a 2.5 SSD into an HP Proliant Mciroserver.

5 out of 5 eggsPerfect Alignment

Pros: Perfect alignment of SATA plugs for specialized hardware. So if you need it to match a 3.5 drive slot, this is the only adapter I've found that works. Solid construction.

Cons: High on price

Other Thoughts: I used these for some Dell Precision workstations, which have nice 3.5 slots, but the wires are run to match where the SATA plugs will be in the right place. All other 2.5 adapters put the drives in the middle or other odd places where the plugs don't work well. Also, if you have a hot plug 3.5 slot, this is the only adapter that will work.

4 out of 5 eggsIt fits!

Pros: I have tried six styles of adapters so far. This is the second to work in my hot swap bays, and the first to work without needing a hammer to adjust.

The unique design requires no transition conenctor so can not degrade the SATA signal.

Cons: $20 for a piece of tin? One egg off for the price.

Other Thoughts: If you need it to fit a 2.5" drive in a 3.5" hot swap bay, then this is the only easy way.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks but expensive as hell

Pros: Using it with my CSE-M35T1 backplane. It fits perfectly and does not cause any problems.

Cons: Price is simply atrocious for a piece of bent metal.
