5 out of 5 eggsjust works

Pros: It just works. Slide a drive in like a cartridge, attach cable, done. Nice big eject button for when you want your drive back. Couldn't be simpler. Works well as either an external or an internal drive.

Cons: I need to peer into the hole to see where the connector is to be sure which way to orient the drive.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Product!

Pros: This little gadget is simple, versatile, and works great! I use it with a 250 GB 5200 RPM sata hard drive I pulled from my netbook after an upgrade. One USB plug is all that's required to power this little contraption and use it like an external hard drive enclosure. And if you want the full performance of SATA you can stick it in your desktop and use it as a desktop hard drive, or stuff it in an open 3.5" drive bay and use it like a floppy drive for hard disks (some fancy screw-driving was required to test this out with my old case).

Cons: None that I can think of. I worry about the hard drive accidentally popping out of the slot when I carry it like an external, but that's never actually happened. As long as you're careful with it, it shouldn't.

Other Thoughts: I think this contraption is perfect for computer nerds like me who need a versatile gadget for transporting and accessing internal hard drives. Great for computer repair professionals too, since you can easily hot swap notebook hard drives for backing up data.

4 out of 5 eggsWorks great!

Pros: Worked out of the box for my laptop drive. I used it to migrate programs and then I used it to fit my old laptop hard drive into my mother's desktop. I love that it serves more than one function (usb and 2.5 to 3.5 adapter).

Cons: Did not work for my SSD hybrid at all but I believe it's the fault of the HDD, not the adapter.

5 out of 5 eggsAlmost perfect

Pros: Very smart design:
- works as 2.5 / 3.5 HDD bracket;
- works as external USB or SATA enclosure;
- toolless design, pretty much like a floppy drive

Cons: HDD has service connector next to SATA. The ejection lever pushes right there and can bend it. SSD don't have connector there and is ok.

Other Thoughts: Works great with SATA/ESATA cable, I am impressed. USB cable delivers the power, no need for a power brick.

5 out of 5 eggsWorks great, exactly what I needed

Pros: Works exactly as advertised.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: No regrets with this purchase. One of our notebook PCs died (fried M/B), and we needed to get the data files off its drive onto a new machine. This little gem worked perfectly.

5 out of 5 eggsVery nice enclosure

Pros: I bought this to back up the data on my PS3 to a spare laptop drive I had lying around so I could upgrade the HDD, and it performed the task without any issues.

After that, I plugged the enclosure into my tower, and I was pleased to find out that this enclosure reports SMART status over both USB and SATA.

I also like the method of inserting and removing a drive; you simply insert the drive into the slot, then press the "eject button" to remove the drive. There is no assembly or disassembly required.

Cons: Not USB 3.0, but I wasn't expecting it at $16.99

Other Thoughts: This enclosure now sits comfortably inside my tower and houses an HDD that I use for Apache web hosting for my friends.

I would love for SYBA to release an updated version of this enclosure with USB 3.0/eSata support.

5 out of 5 eggsnice

Pros: Comes with usb cable. Handy to be able to mount in a desktop system in a 3.5" bay. As that is a floppy bay size use caution as these bays often have no or virtually no airflow. Great to be able to just temporarily connect directly to motherboard for faster throughput. For laptops or time when you don't want to take the time to open a desktop - just use usb.
It is usb 2.0 no surprise there. The ejector push button is a simple lever mechanism, should be fine for a long time if you do not act like a gorilla.

Cons: more air flow would be nice, but drive temps have been fine Approx 40C.
Drives can never be too cool for me.
No really a con, it does not come with cables to connect to a motherboard. This is fine - it is not advertised to come with these cables.
It does come with a usb cable.

Other Thoughts: Would buy again.
Hope thay will offer a usb 3.0 some day soon
