5 out of 5 eggsVery Practical

Pros: Solid build quality
Mainboard USB 3.0 connector and 2 USB 3.0 ports
Power button for Hard Drives.
Great for hot swap capable Motherboards

Cons: A tad high in price. I bought the second on sale plus a 10% off bitcoin code. Dollar cost averaged to be a decent price for both units.

Other Thoughts: Very please with the purchase. I have always had removable hard drive bays in all my main PC's ... now I have that bay "Plus" one for a 2.5" drive so I have swapables between desktop and the DVD-HD-tray Laptops I use. Considering you get a motherboard USB 3.0 connector with 2 USB 3.0 ports ... in the right situation this is a very good deal. My case was an older case with a newer Mobo ... so it worked out well for me.

4 out of 5 eggsGood for what it does

Pros: Hotswap for SSDs is terrific. So is this ability to treat its SSD tray as a Bootable Drive for an OS testing workstation.

For users that want to create off-site backup drives, this is an excellent compoent.

For users that want to swap out bootable drives for different OS testeing, this is excellent.

My most infamous users have these so I can do system-baclkups SO WHEN they invariably trash drives, I can re-install a backup drive for total restores.

I also like the USB 3 ports.

Cons: Build-quality has varied - which isn't news to anyone. Buy 10, and 1 or 2 will have flimsier connectors than others. We've lost 4 out of the 50 we've installed due to bad assembly processes, but that's not a terrible quantity. Wish they were half the price, though.

5 out of 5 eggsExcellent solution

Pros: Compact, lots of features

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: This is my third of these front panel solutions, all three of them installed faultlessly and all three are attached to internal USB 3.0 interfaces with faultless performance. I've only setup hot swap on one of these installations and after a bit of messing around it works well. On my messing about rig I use the 2.5" drive to swap in and out different boot drives with various OSes I mess around with. A lot easier than constantly changing boot order in the BIOS.

4 out of 5 eggsA good product.

Pros: This product is a great way to cram a bunch of functionality into a 5.25" bay. I used in in a server, and now I can use 2.5" SSDs in the same way we used to treat floppies! It's really nice to be able to shove a 3.5" hard drive in there for cloning/scanning/etc... Oh yeah, plus two USB 3.0 ports.

Cons: For the money, I would like a completely metal face and doors. Minus one egg.

Other Thoughts: See above lol.

5 out of 5 eggsFollow-Up Enlightenment

Pros: After searching the Web AGAIN for hot swap help, with no useful results,
And after rechecking both manuals that came with my ASRock Extreme 4 Z87 with no luck,
I looked in the BIOS / UEFI.

There under SATA configuration, I found the way to set up hot swap.
The motherboard SATA connectors can be set up individually.

NOW, drives in this rack work just like USB drives.
Simply turning on the rack power switch makes the drive appear, like a USB drive appears.
And the drive can be closed just like a USB drive, via the icon in the system tray at the bottom, before turning off the rack power switch.

The power switch is a major advantage of this rack over many others.

Cons: Hard drives will get pretty warm with high activity

Other Thoughts: No hot swap problems, now that I found what to do.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Toy in a Long Time

Pros: Multitasks. Replaced my USB 3.0 add-on front panel, plus a similar two-2.5" drive carrier.
Thus, it requires one fewer bay.

Has power switch and light. Don't put hours on the drive(s) when not needed.

Has simple cabling, only one power connecter (SATA) needed.

Because it is "full size" it does not need a 5.25" to 3.5" adapter panel.

Color matches my case very well.

Cons: Guess I haven't yet figured out hot swap.

If a drive is added when the system is running, it is not recognized; must boot with it in.
If I turn off the drive when running, Windows 7 still thinks it's there, and shutdown (when requested) will be slow, because Windows 7 looks for the lost drive.

The manual says NOTHING about hot swap.

All these hot swap gripes are probably because of my lack of knowledge on the subject.

A hard drive may get too hot for long continuous activity (like cloning). I will only use it with hard drives for quick formatting and other short activities.

Other Thoughts: Hot swap is not a big deal for me, because this just supplements/replaces a USB/eSATA external dock, for formatting or cloning, etc.
(Yes, sometimes I clone an SSD to another SSD, but more often to a hard drive).
Hence, I don't mind a few seconds for rebooting, since I won't use this daily (except for the USB 3.0 ports, which always work).

Leave an empty bay BELOW this, to improve hard drive cooling.

Open and close gently. Mechanical abuse may lead to early failure.
With care it will probably last a long time.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat's not to love!

Pros: USB 3.0 with 19 (20) pin header cable. Hot swap 2.5 and 3.5 bays. What more do you want? Sata 6.0GB speed USB 3.0 Super Speed! Everything you need to turn your case into a real workstation or upgrade a case for computer repair persons.

Cons: The only con I have is that the lever to release the 2.5" bay door looks like a button you should press instead of a latch you should pry. It took a little bit of time to figure this out. It should look like a latch instead of a button because there really is no place to really grab it to open other than using your thumbnail. Instead you are to slide it to the right to open. It isn't worth taking off an egg, because let's face it, this is an awesome value for all you get.

Other Thoughts: Very easy to mount and lines up with standard holes. Seems well made and hasn't given me any issues whatsoever. A great addition for any case upgrade for a very fair price.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: 2 drive options and USB 3.0. What's not to love.

Cons: Uses up 2 SATA ports but not a fault of the device, just of the technology.

Other Thoughts: Put in it a hackintosh, OS X will not detect a drive until I reboot and it's picked up by the BIOS. Don't know if it happens in Windows too but it's a PITA, not enough to knock an egg off though.
