5 out of 5 eggsAmazing

Pros: Very cool device; works like a charm and as expected! Takes a SINGLE! regular molex power plug that fits much tighter then sata-power plugs and I think it does the 3.3V conversion on board.

Cons: Price. Without a doubt a little to costly for what it is. 29.99 sounds more reasonable.

Other Thoughts: Too bad the newer bigger 1.5 TB harddisks don't fit

4 out of 5 eggsGreat idea, okay implementation.

Pros: Cleanly mount six 2.5" drives in one 5.25" bay.
Only requires one 4-pin Molex power connector.
Two fans keep drives cool.

Cons: Provided mounting screws prevent tool-less drive removal.
Drive activity lights do not work correctly on 3 bays.

Other Thoughts: I purchased this unit intending to connect six 7200rpm 2.5" mechanical hard drives to a RAID controller in an already crowded case. The RAID controller attached all drives without issue and has been working fine for five months.

The included mounting screws can be tightened until they contact the sleds and drives installed inside, which effectively prevents their easy removal. I was able to work around this issue by adding some plastic washers that allowed me to tighten the screw without engaging the drives or sleds. This seems like an unfortunately necessary part of the design.

The tray lights can be switched between two modes, 1) blue always-on power or 2) blinking-red activity. The right half of my unit only ever showed power regardless of the switch position, so I just left it toggled to power.

The fans are not silent, but I expected this and they do manage to keep the drives cool to the touch.

I am planning to purchase two additional units to use in other machines.

1 out of 5 eggsFailed after 3 Months

Pros: Whoops, failure.

Cons: After about 3 months of use, slot 3 keeps dropping the SSD that is installed in it. Replacing the SATA cable didn't fix the problem, and whatever drive is installed in the slot gets dropped, so the slot must be defective. Was hoping for better performance than that.

3 out of 5 eggsHigh capacity, with some caveats

Pros: High capacity in a single drive slot. Single power supply connector rather than six. Two cooling fans to keep drives cool.

Cons: You have to mount the drives into caddies using screws. This is not as convenient as I would like, since many other caddies like this have friction or other tool-free mounting. Levers are flimsy and will break off if you pull on them too hard. WARNING, the only open about 30 degrees! Do not try to open them once they offer resistance!

Other Thoughts: Can't go wrong with this.
