This Addonics 2.5" mSATA Flash drive turns a regular mSATA SSD into a 2,5" SSD. The drive frame and the connector mimic the exact size and connector location of a 2.5" SATA hard drive. So once the mSATA SSD is mounted inside this 2.5" mSATA Flash drive, it can be used just like a standard 2.5" SATA hard drive.

4 out of 5 eggsDecent msata to 2.5" adapter

Pros: It's a passthrough design which means if you're using a sata3 msata drive and connecting it to a sata3 port, you'll get full sata3 throughput.

Mounting clips are a nice touch, you don't have to search for a screw to secure it in place.

The metal chassis is relatively sturdy and has mounting holes on both the sides and the bottom

Cons: The design leaves the msata card exposed. Great for cooling, not good for possibly shorting out against another metal component in your chassis

Other Thoughts: I am currently using this adapter to test a batch of msata SSDs and despite the open design, it seems to work. You may want to be careful of spacing issues if you're going to use this adapter in a trayless removable mount system as it may short your SSD out on another another metal component.

4 out of 5 eggsSide mounts

Pros: This was one of the only ones I found that had side mounts.

Like the color schema (black & red).

mSATA drive popped right in with no screws.

Love the rough-black finish/texture.

Cons: I had to knock an egg off for the price of this sucker compared to others.

Also, like other 2.5" mSATA adapters, it mounts the mSATA device upside down in an enclosed space. I would prefer they mount these right-side-up.

Lastly, since it is boxed in, there is zero airflow with this design. The rear portion is blocked by a piece of metal. I just cut it off of mine.

Other Thoughts: Not sure if it truly is SATA3 as I only had an older SATA2 mSATA drive I put into it.
