The Hybrid HDD-SSD controller is a special storage controller that can be used in hybrid mode or as standard mode as a two part SATA III PCI-e controller. In Hybrid mode, the controller enhances the performance of any ordinary SATA hard drive by the faster speed of a SSD (Solid State Drive) connected to one of the SATA port. This significantly improves the boot up time of your system as well as the overall read/write performance of the hard drive. In standard mode, this controller becomes a standard 2 ports SATA III PCI-e controller that supports up to 6 Gbps with RAID 0 and RAID 1 features
NO SSD preservation
This review is from: Addonics AD2SAHSSD Hybrid HDD - SSD Controller
Pros: Boots well and cleanly, recognises the SSD and HDD attached to it fine, in its Marvell bios.
Cons: Unfortunately for me, and my use case, the developer of that BIOS made NO provision for the preservation of data in the SSD, only the HDD. i have two systems (Linux and W7) and a years use as a boot drive on that SSD. This is No Where indicated in their advertising materials.
Other Thoughts: This controller is unusable for anyone needing preservation of material on the SSD - without cloning that information (elsewhere) onto the HDD first.
