AMD is awesome
- Pros: Fast, Cool, Cheap.
- Cons: Only DDR memory support, and socket 939. But that is not *really* a bad thing.
- Other Thoughts: Good for upgrading a computer made a few years ago that has some DDR ram in it. Pair this with a nForce 6100 or 6150 motherboard and you have a fairly fast computer for less than $xxx. Virtually any socket 939 heatsink / fan will keep this thing cool. I just upgraded my g/f from a Celeron D 2.8 w/Geforce 5200 to this CPU and a nForce 6150 motherboard, and its a world of difference. Might add a PCI-e video card, but for any game made before 2006 this will play at a reasonable frame rate.
Good Deal
- Pros: This processor is a great deal. Other people have said the fact that it's got a 1600 HT instead of the 2000, it does but it's nowhere near 15-20% difference between the 3500+ with the 2000. I set up a computer with a 3500 and an ECS board almost the same as this one for my grandmother before buying this combo for myself. Buy a good fan and arctic silver 5 to put on here, and up the cpu speed from 200(default) in the BIOS to 210(this effects the FSB speed too), it makes virtually no heat difference. I ran SiSoftware Sandra 2007 benchmarks, and in processor arithmetic, multimedia, and cache latency, this beat the 3500 at stock. In memory bandwidth it didn't do as good, but I only have a 1 gig stick in not dual channel, hers has 2x512s in dual channel, and mine is significantly over half her memory bandwidth. I expect to see it be at least equivelent and probably better her speed. Great processor. Use the money you saved on the combo to get a decent video card or more ram, youll be glad.
- Cons: Not dual core? Runs everything I throw at it including video encoding and Call of duty 2 flawlessly, so I'm just fine. Paid a third as much for my cpu AND motherboard as I would've for just a mid-level dual core processor. No complaints here. ECS board in the combo isn't a great overclocker(but a pretty great board overall), but if you're buying a combo you probably don't care about that.
- Other Thoughts: I heard people talking about this boards pcie being underclocked to 4x. It's a misunderstanding on the ECS website, it's saying it can provide 4x the bandwidth of an AGP slot. It is 16x and it runs my O/Ced 7600 gt just dandy.

great value
- Pros: reliable. faster than I expected.
- Cons: none
- Other Thoughts: I purchased this cpu because I was building a PC for a friend who asked me to stay under a set $ amount. When I finished the build I was amazed at how much it performed over my expectations.
Nice single core
- Pros: Bought this to rebuild a damaged HP. Replaces a 3700+ Sandy. There are limited s939 replacemnt options and this one works well.Performance wise with a much cleaner install than the OEM HP and mild OC, it seems faster.
- Cons: None
Good upgrade
- Pros: very fast, able to run my DDR400 2-2-2-5 at advertised settings now. Great single core proc for my gaming rig, no need for dual core for gaming yet. Cheap!
- Cons: none
