AMD fits all
- Pros: AMD truly has a CPU for everyone. Either this 5200+ which uses less power and runs 100mhz faster, yet sports only a half MB of L2 per core. Or the other 5200+ which runs slightly slower and uses more power but ups the cache to the usual 5000 series total of 1mb per L2 cache.
- Cons: None really if you get the right one.
- Other Thoughts: Id go with this chip if I was a light gamer, heavy web surfer, small office type person AKA someone actually concerned with total power being used. Go with the 2.6ghz 2x1mb version if you game a lot, deal with moving or pack/unpacking large files. And seriously, getting it to run at 2.7ghz should be simple enough even on the cheapest of RAM and MOBOs. Thats a small enough OC where I wouldnt even touch RAM timings or multiplier or anything besides CPU clock.
Plenty of Power
- Pros: This thing is FAST! Well, anything would be fast considering I was on a 1.3ghz Intel Celeron before. Yes, I know, feel free to laugh.
- Cons: I would rather it not had the goo on the HSF so I could apply my own, but no biggie. It's still staying really cool even under full load.
- Other Thoughts: If you are going to be playing any games that have multicore support, make sure you go to the AMD website and get the AMD Dual-Core Optimizer to sync up the cores. It helps (especially if you're having stuttering issues).

easiest and best upgrade CPU for emachine
- Pros: This was the most painless CPU replacement CPU upgrade I have ever seen. I replaced an OEM CPU for my T5062 Emachine and WOW what a difference. Did not need to change any Bios settings, took out the old, put in the new turned the power on and ready for serious business. Buy it, you won't be disappointed for the price. Thanks Newegg Thanks AMD.
- Cons: Zero Cons
Amd is the best
- Pros: *Cheap
*Does all that I need and more *Dual core is sweet
- Cons: *None so far
- Other Thoughts: I had an old MSI M51pv system I bought it awhile back with AMD's Semp processor . I just upgraded to windows 7 recently and this new dual core processor does make a difference. I am not into PC gaming so i will make no comments. I do alot of video editing and i must admit it is alot faster that my previos single core. With CPU's so good people need to get the word out about AMD. A company this good definetly need a greater market share. Lets hope 1+ Billion from intel will help. Great performance for price.
Little, but powerful
- Pros: Pretty fast for the price and though the price is low, it does everything it needs to.
Possibly, it can't play the latest games at max (even with a good GPU), but one cannot argue for the price.
Virtualization. This is nice because even my old Phenom (I have moved to the Phenom2 x4 945, this Athachip is for a friend) Speed + cool & quiet when you don't need it.
Only 65W, not power hungry. Most lower end chips are at 65, but this puts out more power than most for the same wattage.
Don't forget the 3 year warranty if you don't OC.
- Cons: not as good cache as some other models, but not that one can complain for the price.
Not AM3 or even AM2+. To my knowledge, to get the ram at 1066, it must be an AM2+. I believe this processor can only handle up to 800.
Only 65nm, most chips now are at 45, but again, good for the price.
Only a Brisbane. Seems to be a bit old technology, could have been a Kuma or Agena.
- Other Thoughts: I have built over a dozen computers ALL with different AMD chips and not one of them have let me down. My brother swears by Intel because they have "better performance and more reliable". My rebutle to those of you teetering between the two is that perhaps Intel does have better performance, but performance/price AMD wins by far. So if building on a budget (and I believe most of us are), go with AMD. If building something for maximum power and stability with throwing price to the wind, then go with Intel.

Highlights
 |
AMD64 Dual-core Technology AMD64 is designed to enable simultaneous 32 and 64-bit computing with no degradation in performance. With dual-core technology there are two complete processor cores in one physical package running at the same frequency to deliver TRUE multi-tasking power, allowing users to switch from one program to another without pausing for the computer to catch up and reducing annoying processing pauses.
|
 |
HyperTransport Technology HyperTransport Technology (HT or HTT) is a high-speed, low latency, point-to-point link designed to increase communication speeds between integrated circuits in computers, servers, embedded systems, and networking and telecommunications equipment. With HT technology the AMD Athlon 64 X2 5200 Dual-core processor enjoys 2000MHz system bus speeds.
|
 |
Enhanced Virus Protection All AMD processors equipped with AMD64 technology are Enhanced Virus Protection-enabled. Enhanced virus protection acts as a preventative measure causing viruses to be localized, short-lived, and non-contagious, eventually being flushed from system memory.
|
 |
AMD Virtualization Virtualization on desktop computers allows a single PC to act like multiple virtual machines. AMD Virtualization can enable client computers to seamlessly support multiple operating environments. And it also helps make it easier for PC enthusiasts to upgrade and maintain their PCs through emulation.
