Tech Since 1980
- Pros: 1 Awsome CPU! Put 2 in Friends PC's.
- Cons: I Don't have 1 in Mine.
- Other Thoughts: 3 PC's - 3 MSI MoBo k9n2g NEO-FD, 1 PC (AMD Dualcore CPU 5600) - 2 PC's (AMD Quadcore 9850's) 1 PC (Ram OCZ 2x2gig DDR2 800) 2 PC's (Ram Gskill 4x2 gig DDR2 800 in each) 1 PC (HD WD 320 gigs SATA2) 2 PC's (HD WD 500 gigs SATA2 in each) 1 PC (MSI Vid card N9600 pcix 2.0) 2 PC's (MSI Vid Card N9800 pcix 2.0 in each) All 3 PC's have SATA DVD Burners-All 3 PC's running Vista Home Premium 64bit-All 3PC's have 600 watt Power Supplies.
Still great bang for your buck
- Pros: Solid processor for the price, very competent overclocker with sb750 3.2 ghz with slight volt bump, runs everything I throw at it without a hiccup
- Cons: Phenom 2's are faster and higher ocers, Am3 isn't too much more expensive.
- Other Thoughts: This processor in my experience overclocks quite well 3.0 ghz with no voltage change, can hit 3.4 or higher with amd overdrive though through bios I have it stable at 1.36 volts at 3.2ghz. Get a quality 790gx board with this and you have a low cost powerful rig waiting to happen.
Stable at load, affordable
- Pros: I am a computational scientist and digital artist running Linux, and I abuse my hardware: I run all 4 cores for weeks at a time while also using the machine as my standard desktop. This CPU is a rock. GHz for GHz it is as fast as the Opterons and faster than Intel's offerings for heavy computational loads. And the price is great.
- Cons: Supposedly it consumes (or generates in heat) 125 W, which is a bit costly for something that is on 24/7 at load. But the 65 and 95 Watt versions aren't as powerful.
- Other Thoughts: I have the Blue Orb CPU fan attached to this CPU, and the core temps rarely get above 57C.
