5 out of 5 eggs9850 Beast.

Pros: I bought this CPU in 2010 and oh how well did she handle everything. Still handles herself like a True AMD. The games Ive played on this and she handles very well

Battlefield: Bad Company 2
Battlefield 3
World of Warcraft (every expansion including MoP)
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3
The list keeps going but you get the idea.

Cons: The newer processor heavy games (Arma 2 and 3,Total War: Rome 2 etc) will bog it down, badly. Ive played several hundred hours of DayZ on this processor with no real problems. (The only time I would have problems is if the server I was on had more then 20+ or a lot of custom bases/addon's etc).

Other Thoughts: I know shes out of date, but im honestly considering buying a board and throwing this in it to stream Netflix on my big screen in the living room.

5 out of 5 eggsThis is one rock-solid beast.

Pros: It's been more than 5 years and I'm still rocking this chip! I was considering replacing it but then installed an SSD....long story short, I'm still using it!

I leave my machine on all day every day and this CPU is still plowing away 5 years later. The only changes I've made are liquid cooling...and than was only a year ago! I'm trying to figure out what to do with the machine I have this chip in because it's still far too capable to throw out or donate. Currently using it as DHCP/domain/file server in my home. Still on 24/7 and still rock solid!

Cons: Nada!

Other Thoughts: I'm sure these things are dirt cheap now. If you need a plenty fast and solid budget machine then you should give this one a shot :)

5 out of 5 eggsGood CPU

Pros: Pros
Great CPU for Gaming
Great Overclocking. At 3.3GHZ though Bios and Stable. Idle temp 30-33C. Full Load 48-55C.

Cons: Had some slight Issues Overclocking at first(BSOD) but that was just User Error. Make sure you know what your doing.

Other Thoughts: This is a Very Nice CPU that I just got with this New computer I just bought. I can play any Game out right now without a Hitch. Ran Prime95 for 8Hours no Errors or anything. Cools nicely.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Performs well. Video encoding goes quickly and gameplay is unhindered by this processor at factory settings. I believe 10-minute video clips rendered in about 5 minutes each.
Stock heatsink works well.

Cons: Plastic heatsink retainer on the stock heatsink snapped off after about two years of use. There were air bubbles in the plastic which lead to its eventual demise.

5 out of 5 eggsAMD 9850 Quad Core

Pros: Very Fast, Matched this up with 8gb of DDR2 800 Ram, ATI HD5870 Video Card, and 2 Solid State Corsair GT FORCE 90gb Hard Drive in Raid 0, and an ASUS 770 motherboard. Overclocked from 2.5ghz to 2.8ghz with CPU voltage at 1.4v and a bump of multiplier only. I love this chip. My Tower is about 1.5 yrs old and its faster than my INTEL rig at work.

Cons: no cons.

Other Thoughts: Plays all game maxxed out that i have...Battlefield 3, Bad Company 2, Crysis, and Load Times are just about Instant. I will alway buy AMD. I had the competitions CPU once... it was the worst thing I ever owned... it was overpriced and couldn't multi-task to save its life. AMD FOREVER!!!

5 out of 5 eggsStill great bang for your buck

Pros: Solid processor for the price, very competent overclocker with sb750 3.2 ghz with slight volt bump, runs everything I throw at it without a hiccup

Cons: Phenom 2's are faster and higher ocers, Am3 isn't too much more expensive.

Other Thoughts: This processor in my experience overclocks quite well 3.0 ghz with no voltage change, can hit 3.4 or higher with amd overdrive though through bios I have it stable at 1.36 volts at 3.2ghz. Get a quality 790gx board with this and you have a low cost powerful rig waiting to happen.

5 out of 5 eggsStable at load, affordable

Pros: I am a computational scientist and digital artist running Linux, and I abuse my hardware: I run all 4 cores for weeks at a time while also using the machine as my standard desktop. This CPU is a rock. GHz for GHz it is as fast as the Opterons and faster than Intel's offerings for heavy computational loads. And the price is great.

Cons: Supposedly it consumes (or generates in heat) 125 W, which is a bit costly for something that is on 24/7 at load. But the 65 and 95 Watt versions aren't as powerful.

Other Thoughts: I have the Blue Orb CPU fan attached to this CPU, and the core temps rarely get above 57C.

4 out of 5 eggsA decent processor-good bang for buck if on sale

Pros: Quad core, speedy, easy to apply mild overclocking with stability. Expect ~2.9 Ghz before air cooled problems arise.

Cons: Heat is the big issue with this chip (and power consumption). If you have gone to the trouble of buying the Black Edition, you expect to overclock, but this chip has a fairly low ceiling compared to others. I could not reasonably get it above 3.0GhHz without stability problems on my system. I can't knock it an egg b/c of the price. Mine came carefully packaged, taped in a plastic case onto a HDD. So, all-in-all...I really have nothing major to say in the con department. Very good, not perfect=4 eggs.

Other Thoughts: This is a good chip for the price, and I can't think of a competitor that offers a similar chip of the same kick at the same price. I got this with a Gigabyte mobo combo and saved ~$50, so well worth it for a family/budget gaming computer. I used an Arcctic Cooling 64 to tame the radiation- a 120mm fan exhaust fan helps too.

5 out of 5 eggsBack in Black

Pros: Proc comes with OEM heatsink and a nice amount of Artic Silver paste. The proc is easy to install, runs smooth and very stable. Core temp stays with default equipment around 45-48 on the temp. Solid processor and a great buy! Highly suggested, handles X64 OS and Apps very well.

Cons: No cons, but I would suggest replacing heatsink with a more robust one if you want to leave your system on 24/7 or overclock to assure best cooling.
