5 out of 5 eggsWorks just fine in my AM2 board

Pros: This works great in my Asus M2A-MVP motherboard (Socket AM2).

Cons: AMD is now owned by the United Arab Emirates.

Other Thoughts: I mistakenly bought a Socket AM2 Dual-Core processor, then upon further investigation I regretted the purchase: I realized my motherboard would support a Socket AM2+ CPU. I bought this one, and it seems to work great.

4 out of 5 eggs4core on the cheep

Pros: It's great for the multi-tasker on a budget, or budget gamers whose games support more then 2 cores

Cons: For apps and games that only support 2 or 1 core(s) It's slower then my old 5000+ (2.6ghz) that it replaced. The included cpu fan is crazy loud. I would guess 2-4x louder then the stock fan on the old 5000+

Other Thoughts: The very high watt rating is a major problem with many budget AM2 boards. If you care at all about how much noise your system puts out you'll need an aftermarket heatsink/fan

3 out of 5 eggsnot fast enough

Pros: quadcore , amd, cheap., good overclocker.

Cons: small cache and hypertransport only 3400 natively. If you wanna game and rule do not buy it.Go to phenom II or Quad intel.

Other Thoughts: I am lucky to o.c this cpu to 3.00 ghz stable for heavy gaming. Is nice to see the 4 cores working and everything , but the native 2.4 is not enough to see the games flowing smooth , my 250 nvidia suffers with this proc. the performance of this quad is equivalent to the 6000 am2 windsor, a core two duo beats this hands down specially the e6850 ghz 3.00 , i am looking foward to have the phenom II when the hypertransport really is higher and the cache increases as well.Although for a anything else is good , vista gives a good score , aero is a piece of cake for this cpu.

4 out of 5 eggsGood Overall

Pros: I'm currently using this CPU in a custom-built PC and it seems to work great. My previous system had a Pentium 4, so I'm not used to having a CPU usage of less than 50-70% (usually the higher end) on Windows XP for normal multitasking usage, whereas this CPU averages about 30% max on Windows Vista Ultimate.

Cons: The fan is fairly loud, even in sleep mode, which is unusual to me because my previous system was silent when in stand-by. However, this being a quad-core, I find sleep mode to be almost useless due to the very fast boot-up. I would recommend a fan controller for those who like quiet desktops.

Other Thoughts: No major problems so far. As a side note, I do not consider myself a computer tech expert despite taking a few classes on it; it has become a hobby for me.

5 out of 5 eggsAngry at ECS

Pros: Works great on my system. Installed Vista (32 bit) Ultimate in just 20 minutes v. 35 with the X2 6000. Runs programs or multiple programs that normally use 100% of the CPU with Athlon X2s with only 50%. I have yet to see it use more than 70% of its power to do things.

Cons: Probably will die soon and take my mobo with it. ECS took its sweet time publishing the fact that its compatible motherboard really is NOT. According to the new manual, the 770 M-A is restricted to 95 watt CPUs and I had spent nearly a year researching both mobo and CPU before I bought either one.

Other Thoughts: The whole system sometimes freezes after 8 to 10 hours and I have to shut it off. Even the reset button accomplishes nothing. I believe ECS is responsible, or at least should be.

5 out of 5 eggsFast but...

Pros: Phenom x4. Fast by defalt, faster by OC

Cons: could only get mine to OC to 2.6 ghz. I dont know if its because of the 95w ver. i got but my foxconn a78x isnt havin this thing goin any faster.

Other Thoughts: Not realy much i can do to stress this out. I had an amd 6000+ 2mb and it had problems with crysis on high settings. This thing on the other hand doesnt even max out all the cores when I play Crysis WH. But to be honest theres not too much of an benifit to having a x4 now with mabye 10-15 games useing all 4 cores but hey ill tell you this... having your fave MMO up while looking up guides and having itunes up in the background...priceless!

5 out of 5 eggsWHOA!!!!

Pros: 1. AMD
2. Quad Core
3. AMD
4. Quad Core
5. AMD
6. Quad core
7. AMD retail heat sink and fan

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: This is my first quad core and I am so impressed with it, I can't figure out how in the heck I decided to put this in my wife's PC instead of mine. Performance is awesome, and this is the second AMD retail heat sink and fan I have used and may never go back to third party cooling fans. Bottom line is, "Come on tax return, Daddy needs a new quad core"!
