5 out of 5 eggsNice Quad-Core

Pros: Runs as expected. Very fast and efficient processor. I'm a fan of AMD processors, and this one works very well for me.

Cons: Might not be powerful enough for some gamers. You know if this processor is for you or not.

Other Thoughts: Purchased for use in a friends computer. He absolutely loves it. Newegg has wonderful service, as always.

4 out of 5 eggsNice processor, lame heatsink

Pros: Very nice price point for a quad processor, excellent performance, works with any of the AM2+ Motherboards and doesn't run too hot.

Cons: I agree with others regarding the heatsink/fan included with this offering. I took a look at it and went immediately to a 3rd party fan/heatsink. The one included here belongs on 65W or 45W AMD CPU's. Also, with the current combo deals out on the 9850 Black Edition, which DOES come with a decent heatsink/fan, the 9550 is not as attractive.

Other Thoughts: If Newegg could combo price this CPU with a matched motherboard and/or a decent 3rd party fan/heatsink, that would make a very attractive offering.

5 out of 5 eggsWhat a deal!

Pros: Lowest price quad core on the market. Boy does it work. Came from a socket 939 dual core opteron so I wasn't expecting a huge gain. There was a gain while not a huge gain with single threaded apps, but it is impressive with apps that can make use of more than one core.

Cons: Price dropped by $40 after I got it, but thats the nature of the game. EQ2 sucks because it only uses one core, but then again, I can run a lot of additional intensive tasks without impacting the game.

Other Thoughts: AMD is the best bang for your buck right now with its aggressive pricing and the cpu's are solid. Bottom line is we would be paying 1k or more for a two core P4D still if AMD didn't make the A64 and X2 forcing the other company to copy, I mean develop a new architecture. I may have to get a 9850 or 9950 since the price has come down so much, or I could pay more than 5X the price for a benchmark queen with about 10-15% more true performance.

Cons: I don't think my apps tap this processors potential.

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome

Pros: Can run Crysis smoothly (not high settings but at least it runs it). Fits nicely in my mid tower case.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: Comes with some good software. I know World of Warcraft isnt a very graphics intensive game but on highest settings I have hit 150 FPS.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Value

Pros: Fast. I can run Slingbox, surf the Net, watch Youtube videos, check email, do CAD work, and run my TV tuner all at the same time without any slowdown. This processor almost maxes out the Windows Vista Experience rating. I got this one because of the relatively low power consumption.

Cons: None.
