Throw another day’s work on the "done" pile. The Athlon X2 4850e makes it easy. With dual 2.5GHz cores that each have a dedicated 512KB cache, you have the power to do anything you like. HyperTransport technology boosts system performance by a point-to-point bus construction designed to reduce I/O bottlenecks and latency for increased data bandwidth.

The 64-bit design will keep you going well into the future. The AMD64 technology is compatible with existing software and enables a seamless transition to the 64-bit applications. This technology allows end users to take advantage of real-time encryption, more life-like games, accurate speech interfaces, cinema-quality graphic effects, and easy-to-use video and audio editing.

If you're going to use this processor on your home desktop, it can be the basis of a media center with AMD Live! technology. This new feature from AMD will turn your PC into an entertainment platform second to none. Watch videos or TV in one room while streaming music into another. Your system will become a true media center with music, movies, and photos all organized and able to be shared amongst all of your connected equipment.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat processor

Pros: Has virtualization and great performance for good price and power consumption. Used with mythbuntu (Linux) for DVR and stays at 1 GHz most of the time. Machine uses 80 watts at idle and about 100 when working. Coupled with NVidia 9400 for excellent DVR system (wanted low power, good performance, and low price).

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Great price/performance/heat.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good bang for the buck. Can run CS:S and DOD:S with no lag and high settings. Low power consumption and no too loud.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: If you are looking to build a budget box for gaming this processor can handle it. Maybe come out with a 45nm size, but it is what it is.

5 out of 5 eggsBeautiful Processor

Pros: This is the ideal processor for a budget user. Cheap, low powered and fast enough to get the daily jobs done. I bought the procesor to make a Multimedia desktop and paired it with an ASUS M3A78-EM (Built in HDMI) to connect to my HDTV. And... it runs like a charm... I have XP installed an after installing the Processor drivers from AMD that optimize the Dual core usage, the processor runs cool (40C) with the stock cooler. Also cant beat the price that I got from Newegg...

Cons: Since I am not overclocking ... I dont have any cons to mention.

Other Thoughts: I think AMD should market/manufacture more of the low power dual-core products... on their upcoming 32nm nodes... triple and Quad core technologies can only be properly utilized on server level and for a home user, a dual core processor is the ideal solution for 99% of the needs (unless you area hardcore gamer)

5 out of 5 eggsthepcman

Pros: Great CPU, the computer build it went into was so quite I had to check to see if it was even running.

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: Great CPU for anyone building a computer for parents or grand parents. More than enough power for Internet, Office, and even some gaming like Call of Duty 5 when paird with a ATI HD 4830. Getting 40-60 FPS at 1440x900 with AA and AF maxed out. With detail max also.

Good price to power ratio

Cons: Stock cooler is a little louder than desired

Other Thoughts: Using it for an office box and it covers all daily necessities from actual work to downtime net surfing. Would build again.
