AMD Phenom X3 8750 Black Edition Toliman Triple-Core 2.4GHz Socket AM2+ 95W Processor HD875ZWCGHBOX

  • 3600MHz
  • 65nm Toliman 95W
  • 2MB L3 Cache
  • 3 x 512KB L2 Cache

Like the superheroes of old, the AMD Phenom streaks out of the night to lay waste to your enemies. The 8750 has 3 cores that run at 2.4GHz. The tri-core Phenom processor has 128KB L1 and 512KB L2 caches for each core and a total of 2MB L3 cache to buffer really heavy data flows.

Memory transfers get faster than ever. HyperTransport Generation 3.0 mode allows up to 16.0GB/s of bandwidth. Add that to the 17.1GB/s from the integrated memory controller for an amazing 33.1GB/s of memory bandwidth. This unprecedented bandwidth is needed to feed the data hungry AMD64 with Direct Connect Architecture cores.

You'd think that all of this power could get too hot to handle. Think again. AMD's Cool'n'Quiet 2.0 technology works with CoolCore Technology to minimize heat while keeping power and efficiency up. Now the cores can shut down unused parts of the processor when not in use. This saves power and helps to reduce the amount of heat generated. This function is built in so there's no need for drivers or BIOS updates.

  • newegg AMD64 Triple-core Technology AMD64 is designed to enable simultaneous 32- and 64-bit computing with no degradation in performance. With Triple-core technology, three complete processor cores on a single die run at the same frequency to deliver exceptional multi-tasking power, allowing users to surge through the most demanding processing loads, including advanced multitasking, critical business productivity, complicated visual design and modeling, serious gaming, and visually stunning digital media and entertainment.
  • newegg HyperTransport 3.0 Technology HyperTransport 3.0 Technology (HT 3.0) is a high-speed, low latency, point-to-point link designed to increase communication speeds between integrated circuits in computers, servers, embedded systems, and networking and telecommunications equipment. With HT 3.0 technology the AMD Phenom 8750 Toliman processor enjoys 3600MHz system bus speeds.
  • newegg AMD Virtualization Virtualization on desktop computers allows a single PC to act like multiple virtual machines. AMD Virtualization can enable client computers to seamlessly support multiple operating environments. And it also helps make it easier for PC enthusiasts to upgrade and maintain their PCs through emulation.
  • newegg AMD CoolCore Technology AMD CoolCore Technology reduces processor energy consumption by turning off unused parts of the processor. Power can be switched on or off within a single clock cycle so that energy is saved without compromising performance.
  • newegg AMD Cool'n'Quiet 2.0 Technology AMD's Cool'n'Quiet 2.0 technology is an innovative solution available on AMD Athlon 64 processor-based systems that can effectively lower power consumption and enable a quieter-running system while delivering performance-on-demand.
  • newegg Integrated DDR2 DRAM Memory Controller The AMD Phenom 8750 Toliman Quad-core processor is integrated with a DDR2 DRAM memory controller capable of supporting registered and ECC DRAM. The integrated memory controller changes the way the processor accesses main memory, resulting in increased bandwidth, reduced memory latencies, and enhanced processor performance.

4 out of 5 eggsAwesome Little Processor

Pros: I built a monster with this thing over a year ago and it never let me down. It's still kicking in my backup PC.

Cons: none

5 out of 5 eggsGreat "old" processor

Pros: I know this chip is "old" and isn't available new anymore, but if you are considering getting one used, as long as it isn't burned up, buy it. This is a great chip. It has done everything I've asked it to in 3 different builds, on three different mainboards, and 3 different system configs, but mainly used for gaming. Overclocks really easily. Currently running at 3.0GHz without even breaking a sweat. Runs WELL below 55C at that speed at full load even with stock cooler. Did have to run the cpu voltage up a bit to get that speed, though.

Cons: It's "old".

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Works great. Fast, reliable. Easy to overclock. I was able to overclock it from 2.4 GHz to 2.88 GHz with only a 5 degree change in temperature (runs at about 38 - 40 degrees now instead of the usual 33). Great deal.

Cons: None.

Other Thoughts: I might try to unlick the fourth core someday, but it already does all that I need it to do so I may not bother with it.

5 out of 5 eggsAmazing CPU

Pros: It's been a great gift for my nephews of course made by myself to them lol, but it's a great upgrade for them. Also got them a new mainboard and a backup HDD.

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: I recommend this item for people whom are on a budget, it's an amazing CPU for the price worth each penny.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor

Pros: Cost for performance. Unlocked, easy over-clocking. Good thermal qualities while over-clocked. Fairly adequate stock cooler, keeps processor at 38c running 2.7GHz.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Well, I love this processor but I do not think I would have purchased this new for original release price. As of now, it is a great deal.

5 out of 5 eggsAMD ROCKS

Pros: A great CPU currently running at 3.0 Ghz with a voltage bump to 1.35. currently idling at........15c (custom liquid cooler) and highest Ive seen it was 27c. Hoping to over clock it some more in the future...

Cons: As you may know the original heat sink it came with is a paper weight but it may come in handy in the future.

Other Thoughts: I have used AMD in the past, I am using AMD now, and I will use AMD in the future. The price to performance is amazing!!!

5 out of 5 eggsPerforming very well

Pros: I installed this CPU on the combo ASUS M4A785-M AM3/AM2+/AM2 AMD 785G HDMI Micro ATX AMD Motherboard with OCZ Platinum 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR2 SDRAM DDR2 1066 (PC2 8500) Dual Channel Kit Memory and is performing for what i wanted it to very well.
I wanted to upgrade an old compaq preserio to play 720p and 1080p movies and streams on my HDTV and this did the job nicely at a very affordable price. (got the 4 gb of memory for whenever i upgrade OS)

The onboard ATI 4200 can upscale output to 1080p and runs movies smooth in fullscreen as well as streaming videos using fancast or hulu in fullscreen. The onboard sound also works very well. I'm using the HDMI output to my HDTV and had no problems with sound.

Be sure you install the HDMI drivers from CD &choose HDMI as your default in sound settings or you won't hear sound using a HDMI cable. In Vista: control panel-->sound and audio device properties--->audio--->under sound playback change to 'realtek HDA HDMI out' and apply or sav

Cons: None so far

Other Thoughts: I was a bit worried about it being triple core instead of dual or quad but haven't had an issue. Well worth the price i paid and the quality of the on-board video and sound was a plus not having to put out more money for separate add on cards

5 out of 5 eggsupdate from prior review

Pros: This little cpu runs cool. The idle temp is 23c and under load it reach an amazing 29c. Great buy and great performance compared to my old 5200+ 2.7ghz.

Cons: none that I can think of.

Other Thoughts: Can't overclock it because the bios on that abit board does not have the option (may still have to do some digging). Not AMD's fault.
