5 out of 5 eggs3+ Years Overclocked @ 1.97MHz and still running strong!

Comments: Just like the title says, it runs like a champ ever after three plus years and never getting turned off.

I bought this and most of the other items for my first PC build from newegg back in 2002 and have never ordered from anyone else again.

It's plenty fast for most peoples needs. The system I built back in 02 primarly severs as a HTPC and gaming unit now, and this processor works just fine. Sure there are faster one's out there, but not this fast and this cheap both in one!

Down side (if you can call it that) is that is not the best overclocking CPU. It is pretty much maxed out from the factory (as you can see I could only manage 1.97MHz, and that was after losts of trial and error).

It's also hot, not crazy hot, but hot. Get a good cooling solution. I have a Zalman 7000B, which is another review in and of it self. I love this cooler, it works great and it's quite. I can finally hear the clicking of my hard drives again. (switched from a Valcano 9)

Anyway, that's it. Get, overclock it, be happy!

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: In response to 10/6/2004 post: Cheap power supplies fry motherboards when the voltage regulators go bad, not processors.Get a good PSU before you blame the CPU.

5 out of 5 eggs

Comments: For the people who are having clock probs.. mine did this as well last night, I re-seated the proc in the socket, cleared the CMOS and it runs at 1795 MHz now. the 1345MHz means your FSB is running at 200 MHz, not 266. For the Heat problem people, i use a copper HS an adapter to go from 60mm to 80mm and have a 33 CFM clear LED fan on it, Idle temp is 38C, under an hour of load from Doom 3 temps peaked at 48c according to Speedfan.

Comments: Same problem with processor showing up as 1.36ghz on an Abit VA-10 mobo. When you clear the CMOS memory, it defaults back to 100mhz FSB. Changed it to 133, it now sees the processor at 1.8ghz. So if your mobo doesn't have jumpers for the FSB settings, scour the CMOS settings to find it.

4 out of 5 eggs

Comments: this processor runs half life and it's various mods flawlessly, perfect for games when you don't have to much to spend. but can someone please tell me why mine runs at 1350 MHz as opposed to the stated 1.8GHz? what did i do wrong if it's not my hardware, which i'm pretty sure it's not. i have 256MB Ultra RAM, Biostar M7VIW-D motherboard, and a thermaltake fan and heatsink at 5273 RPM.

4 out of 5 eggssatisfied but could be better

Comments: The only thing I don't like about this processor is the cache. I got this looking to upgrad from a p2 350 mhz and i didnt know how much a difference the cache would make. I would've got the 2500 but oh well. Still not bad
