5 out of 5 eggsGame Smoker CPU!!!!

Pros: Great for games and other apps.
It smokes F.E.A.R and Tom Clancey double agent at max settings!! Fantastic overclocking capabilities, enough said!!!

Cons: None I can think of at the moment.

Other Thoughts: I had an Athlon 64-3000+ before getting the FX-55 and the difference is obvious. I was going to buy the AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ Processor Socket 939, this has 2x1Mb L-2 cache, but since I don't run 20 apps. at once the cost wasn't justified. I bought an ASROCK Dual vista motherboard along with the FX-55 CPU for less than the cost of the X-2 4400+. When the time comes I'll get a socket AM2 cpu, since my motherboard accepts both types of cpu's. {The AM-2 is usable with an add on board that sells for 25.00} I made the right choice, so the heck with what anyone else thinks.

5 out of 5 eggsHot Setup!

Pros: I am running this cpu at 3.0ghz overclocked from stock 2.6, Without the blue orb II core tempratures were close to 82c with the blue orb II its at core temprature of 38c And thats in game and stressed
I'm a FPS gamer and you can't go wrong with this setup!!
If your going to run this FX 55 you will want this cpu cooler And not only will it cool your cpu it will also cool your memory, Adjustable speed control

Cons: the brackets need a little more planning but so far its all good.

Other Thoughts: Order from Newegg

5 out of 5 eggsAwesome Proc

Pros: All I got to say is awesome

Cons: First time ever new egg had poor shipping....very upset....

Ordered this processor with no heatsink(came loose)...Opened package and proc was laying on bottom of box....20-30 pins were bent....new egg rep wouldnt return....straightened them all out manually(took some time)...all is good...Stick with Fedex if you can....UPS is terrible....

5 out of 5 eggsSolid Upgrade

Pros: solid upgrade for someone looking to not spend a lot. i upgraded from a San Diego 3700+ to the FX-55 and i can already see the difference in boot time and application loading time.

Cons: the only strange thing so far is that CPU-Z gives a different clock reading everytime you start it up. ive seen anywhere from 2614 mhz to 2640 mhz and i have set absolutely nothing to o/c.

Other Thoughts: i swapped out the cpu on an Epox 9NDA3+ board using an Arctic-Cooling Freezer 64 Pro HSF w/ some Arctic Silver 5 and getting temp readings pretty much the same as the 3700+ with the FX-55 so far with the fresh application of the Arctic Silver 5.

5 out of 5 eggsOld Skool Beatdown with Brass Knuckles

Pros: AMD/Fast This thing is still one of the top dogs for gaming. Regardless of it not being dual core it can shred through games at a tremendous rate with no lag. Multi tasks like a mo-fo too. As far as I am concerned if I can alt-tab out of fear to check some e-mail and switch my tunes then this is good enough for me. Huge jump from my stout and true 3700+.

Cons: Clawhammer Yarg she gets hotter than a tin roof, but with a big fatty cooler she will come down to a mere minor sunburn.

Other Thoughts: FX-55, 1gb Corsair XMS, AN832 SLI, 7950gt, and my punky 160gb hitachorama is far better than what I used to have.

3 out of 5 eggsolder of two FX55s

Pros: Still powerful, good gaming chip

Cons: .13 micron.. this is first gen FX-55.. bare processor.

Other Thoughts: Oops. I just order and received one. There's a fantastic deal floating around on the web, AMDROCKS. I couldn't pass up the price on this good chip. I got it already,.. usually speedy shipping from newegg.
Unfortunately I just realized why newegg is blowing these out. This is a .13 Micron process cpu. The retail on the .09micron chip is nearly the same but there's no promotional code on that model.
On the up-side: still a great chip for gaming, especially on a budget (most games don't utilize mulitple cores and those that do, do so poorly.. faster single cores still better for gaming).
Down-side: older process.. hotter. Get a good big heatsink and a case with good ventilation.

5 out of 5 eggsBest Sunset of Single Core

Comments: One word: Awesome!

If you're looking for a new proc, definitely go for this. In terms of the single core, this is truly, the last of them...and the greatest (sniff).

Couple this with a Zalman CNPS7700-Cu and ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe, and you're good to go. I have to say, quiet cooling is the best way to go, and this chip has the Cool-n-Quiet to prove it.
