Like the superheroes of old, the AMD Phenom II streaks out of the night to lay waste to your enemies with 3.0GHz quad cores, each of which has L1 and L2 caches. An additional 6MB of L3 cache is available to handle really heavy loads or large data sets.
Memory transfers get faster than ever. HyperTransport Generation 3.0 mode allows up to 16.0GB/s of bandwidth. Up to 17.1GB/s memory bandwidth for DDR2 delivers an amazing 33.1GB/s of processor-to-system bandwidth. This unprecedented bandwidth is needed to feed the data hungry AMD64 with Direct Connect Architecture cores.
You'd think that all of this power would be too hot to handle. Think again. AMD's Cool'n'Quiet 3.0 technology works with CoolCore Technology to minimize heat while keeping power and efficiency up. Now the cores can shut down unused parts of the processor when not in use. This saves power and helps to reduce the amount of heat generated. This function is built in so there's no need for drivers or BIOS updates.

Why to buy AMD
- Pros: Read Ed Bott's article about why many Intel cpus will not run "XP Mode" in Windows 7. But all dual-core AM2, AM2+, AM3 AMD Athlon 64, all Phenom, and all Phenom II cpus will.
Search Google for How Many Intel CPUs will fail the XP mode test in Windows 7
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: Running AMD cpus from 8088 through Phenom II. Always the best bang for the buck. Plus, without AMD's competition, Intel's cpus would be even more overpriced than they already are.
The best deal @ Newegg!!
- Pros: This is THE BEST, in it's class, processor that $(225)$ can buy. OC'd to 3.7GHz w/o a sweat (56c).
- Cons: A power hog (for it's architecture size).
- Other Thoughts: Not free.

O.C Dream
- Pros: This PCU is easily the fastest Processor I've seen and or modded. It runs very, very cool, which is surprising for a Quad core (8 cores if you unlock them). Most importantly however, this PCU is literally built for overclocking. I'm running this with a T series Biostar, and easily have this 3.0 Ghz O.C'd to 3.6, with much more room to go should I feel the creed. Also, despite the overclock, it still runs a cool 30 Celcius, which if you've ever used a LGA 775 or Socket A, or even some of the Core i7's, you'd know is decent at the least. The activity meter during idle or low program usage never goes over 5%. The fan is almost silent, as is most AMD fans/HS.With 8MB of Cache, it makes this, IMO, the best PCU for the price, hands down.
- Cons: None. I honestly cannot think of one problem. AMD has done it again with this one.
- Other Thoughts: Specs

Awesome
- Pros: Very fast and ultra-stable, even OC'd to 3.4 GHz!
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: Can't go wrong
A BEAST!
- Pros: This processor is a BEAST! Chews through everything I throw at it and laughs. Conversion time to burn video to DVD cut in half.
- Cons: 140 watts made me fear my power supply would be stressing to keep up, but no issues thus far.
- Other Thoughts: Upgraded my main PC to this from a 3.0ghz Pentium D. Needless to say, my jaw dropped at the performance increase.
