Throw another day’s work on the "done" pile. The Athlon X2 7850 Kuma makes it easy. With 2 2.8GHz cores that have their own 512KB cache, you have the power to do anything you like. HyperTransport technology boosts system performance by giving each core a dedicated cache of memory and reducing I/O bottlenecks by increasing bandwidth and reducing latency.
The 64-bit design will keep you going well into the future. The AMD64 technology is compatible with existing software and enables a seamless transition to the 64-bit applications of the future. This technology allows end users to take advantage of real-time encryption, more life-like games, accurate speech interfaces, cinema-quality graphic effects, and easy-to-use video and audio editing.
If you're going to use this processor at home, it can be the basis of a media center with AMD Live! technology. This new feature from AMD will turn your PC into an entertainment platform second to none. Watch videos or TV in one room while streaming music into another. Your system will become a true media center with music, movies, and photos all organized and able to be shared amongst all of your connected equipment.

Good CPU
- Pros: I reviewed this CPU for Bjorn3D, and its pretty good. Will whip a X2 6000, despite being 200mhz slower. Overclocking will allow you to go up around 3.4-3.6, but make sure you have a SB750, or youll end up with a wall at 3 ghz. Great price for what you get!
- Cons: Only K10, not K10.5
- Other Thoughts: Your supposed to be able to unlock these to quads, but I wouldnt try it, as the other cores are shut off for a reason, if your interested in seeing if your other two cores will work you can do a quick Google search.
Nolan docked an egg!!!!!
- Pros: Fast, cheap, L3 cache, can be overclocked to 3.5 with mult and volt increases. 50/50 chance of unlocking all cores.
- Cons: None
- Other Thoughts: NOLAN needs a new motherboard. First of all before you buy a chip make SURE its compatible with your motherboard. The Acer you have is AM2 not AM2+ so thats the reason its not compatible. If I were you, I'd ditch that motherboard, buy a new AM2+ here on newegg and replace. Hope this helps.....

Good Budget Enthusiast Processor
- Pros: Unlocked multiplier is great. Can get 3.0 stable at 1.325. But more than that, using the AMD Overdrive, I set up a profile to radically underclock the PC when I need it in standby/download mode. I can reduce the multiplier to minimum 5x (1 Ghz) and drop the voltage stable down to 0.825.
- Cons: Hardly any cons. Make sure to get a motherboard that supports 1066 DDR2. Also invest in a good motherboard for the overclocking (and in my case, underclocking). Doesn't have to break the bank, but you'll thank yourself for spending a little bit more.
- Other Thoughts: This is really a con of my motherboard, and not the processor. Make sure to spend a little more and get a decent motherboard if you want a higher stable overclock. But for a budget build, well worth it. Make sure to get 1066 DDR2 RAM with this processor, it gets decent boost in ram performance from it over the 800 DDR2. (If you get a motherboard with a radeon Integrated Graphics, you can crossfire the IGP with your Radeon Card for a budget boost in video performance.)
So far, So good
- Pros: Quiet, fast, works well with 4gb ram and m3n78 mobo
- Cons: none so far
- Other Thoughts: would be nice if thermal paste was included. 6 bucks for a 1.5 oz tube is kind of a rip off
Bios update needed
- Pros: None
- Cons: Need to update bios. Not stable, crashes often. First AMD processor I have been disapointed in!! Newegg as always makes returns a breeze.
