5 out of 5 eggsOne for the hall of fame.

Pros: Cheap, still competitive, lasts a long time. Going on 4 years now, for me.

Cons: Stock heatsink fan combo is really loud.

4 out of 5 eggsNice CPU but....

Pros: ....wasn't aware of the C2/C3 issue until after my build was finished. I guess that's why it was bundled with a MoBo on Black Friday 2009. No real complaints though. Runs hot, but was still able to hit 3.8 on stock cooling.

Cons: 140w C2 as opposed to the 125w C3? Not a great overclocker.

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Processor

Pros: Stability is top-notch as long as you research and buy the right motherboard.

It's 4 cores of AMD Power, I didn't want to splurge on an Intel Chip and every time I fire up this workstation I'm okay with the fact that this isn't the fastest chip on the market, It is will NOT be the bottleneck on your system.

Cons: High Wattage.
Won't make me coffee.

Other Thoughts: I am not an overclocker, however I have OC'd this unit w/ the stock cooler and Arctic 5 in a nicely circulated case (fans only) - It's ability to overclock is impressive.

Make sure to let the system run on regular settings for a while before OC'ing.. the Burn-In phase is important for any Processor

5 out of 5 eggsBlown away by its performance

Pros: This chip performs beyond any expectations. I am really blown away by the job and the load this CPU is able to handle and word under. This is one hard core processor that will take your breath away.
So content with possessing one.

Cons: None so far.

Other Thoughts: Happy for choosing it for my build up.

5 out of 5 eggsSmokin' hot processor

Pros: This CPU is amazing. Incredibly fast. I have virtually no load times for apps I used to wait over ten seconds for: music software, screenwriting software, and even Web browsers all open incredibly fast.

It also stays decently cool: 23.4°C (74.1°F) on a high load and just 5.4°C (41.7°F) on idle. (It supposedly maxes at 62°C [149°F] but I haven't pushed mine to test that.)

Support was also awesome. I had a bad mobo and was trying to figure out what specifically in my system kept failing. AMD RMA-ed my chip (and paid for it) without any questions asked. I got the replacement fast, even though the first chip (as it turned out) was working just fine. What GREAT service!

Cons: None at all. Amazing processor and an amazing manufacturer.

2 out of 5 eggsDOA

Pros: Got it pretty quickly??

Cons: DOA

Other Thoughts: proc was DOA. 2 different local dealers saying that there have been lots of bad product hitting the market lately from AMD as they have seena spike in RMA's lately as well. Hopefully not a long term trend, as the price point is right, but meaningless if there are truly lots of DOA's.

5 out of 5 eggsPlenty fast

Pros: Plenty fast for pretty much anybody. Programs load noticeably faster, games run much much better.

Cons: Generates a lot of heat which causes the stock fan to spin at louder levels. Not as loud as some reviews claim it to be, but it does have a slightly irritating whine.

Other Thoughts: My old Phenom 2 X4 810 processor was pretty much the sweet spot for Windows 7. This new 965 processor doesn't make Windows 7 seem much quicker, but once you start putting stress on it like games and encoding, you will notice a huge difference.
