5 out of 5 eggsGreat Price & Performance

Pros: - 4 Cores @ 3.4 Ghz
- Excellent performance for a lower price range
- Comes with a fan and heatsink

Cons: - Stock cooler may not be acceptable for some people. With all 4 cores under 100% load I almost reached AMD's stated max temp of 62 C. At this temp the fan was screaming loud and running at over 6000 RPM!

Other Thoughts: Good little chip and a great price. It may be older but it can handle heavy tasks. I used this in a budget build for school where I'm taking networking. This chip, an asrock mobo and 8 gigs ram was the build. I was running Linux with two Windows 7 virtual machines and a Windows 2003 Server virtual machine. It handled my needs with ease.

I've decided to stick with stock heat sink for now despite the above mentioned issues. My setup idles around 35 C (with cool and quite + C1E enabled) and with the fan speed set around 3500-4000 RPM.

NOTE: make sure your AM3 socket motherboard supports this 125 watt CPU. If your upgrading an older chip, check the manufactures website to make sure!

I would easily buy this again if the price remains competitive!

5 out of 5 eggsHot workhorse

Pros: 4 real cores, CPU throttling keeps it running cool (idles at about 30C), easy overclock. Great value.

Cons: Runs a little hot at full load, but this is almost never for me, and temps are still not real high (<70C). Get a decent cooler to go with it. I use the ARCTIC COOLING Freezer 64 Pro.

Other Thoughts: I've had this workhorse for 3 years, paid $166 for it, and it has performed flawlessly. At current prices it is a steal. I'm not a gamer but it competes with the better Intel CPUs in the gaming niche. I do software development and my personal desktop functions with it, where it has more than enough capacity, especially coupled with a SSD. Under Windows 8 it gets a 7.4/9.9 WEI rating, overclocked to a modest 3.8GHz. Unless you do high-end video work or other CPU-intensive applications which require the best CPU you can get, this should be plenty. Even late in its life cycle, I'm expecting this to last several more years for me.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: Good processor. Handles all the games I run on it fine.

Cons: It seems to heat up quite a bit under a heavy load. Not sure though, although I know I can hear the fan start spinning really fast whenever I start putting a heavy load onto it.

5 out of 5 eggs

Pros: -Fast
-Cheap
-Overclocks easy

Cons: -Stock cooler runs a bit hot. Don't OC too much without an aftermarket cooler

Other Thoughts: I am using oc genie right now to bring this guy up to 3.6 gHz until I get an aftermarket cooler. Anything I do manually past that runs too hot for my taste.
