Just to correct the guy below me
- Pros: Quick, smooth, doesn't run hot...what else could you want?
- Cons: High wattage :(
Not mine :( built it for my buddy.
- Other Thoughts: The guy below me is wrong, multi core CPU's do no stack in GHz. 3ghz per core is just that. Each core processes the same information but different parts to get it processed faster, so part a goes to 1 core part b goes to the other core, each being processed at 3ghz, if it stacked, then it'd be 6ghz and well, you wouldn't see it processing cause it'd be done cause it'd be so fast, but that's now how it works.
- Pros: Very fast CPU! AMD definately has an excellent product.
- Cons: none
- Other Thoughts: Thanks to AMD Intel has to keep there prices down. This is good for all of us. However with the Conroe's overclocking ability AMD has a ways to go to equal the core 2 6600

Apparaently a lemon
- Pros: Don't know it never worked
- Cons: First one was shipped badly and had bent pins. Didn't get around to trying the replacement until after the 30 warranty period. Tried it on 2 different motherboards that support this cpu and are working fine with other processors. Would no boot on either one.
- Other Thoughts: Buyer beware on OEM processors.
Great processor
- Pros: A great processor. Especially great for an upgrade from a single core Sempron processor. Runs nice and fast, and keeps me warm in the winter.
- Cons: Runs a little warm if you don't have a decent heatsink. The coolers that come with single cores will let this baby run warm. 150°F in worse-case scenario for me.
- Other Thoughts: - It majorly dropped in price since I bought this. :(
- Buy a heatsink or get the retail version if you're worried about overheating!
Amazing little piece of metal and silicon
- Pros: Well what to say, it works in my Dell Dimension C521 (which is basically completely upgraded aside form motherboard and hard drive). Gos greatly with my Radeon HD 4650. and if you own a dell dimension c521 and youve been reading around about processor upgrades for it, occasionally you'll come across answers that a 125-watt processor will not work, well, considering its been in mine for a while now, I beg to differ. Haven't tried overclocking yet considering Dell's motherboards lock those functions, but I plan to in a couple days when my new motherboard arrives. and as for the comments on "it gets too hot", mine stays around 45 degrees normal and around 50-60 under load, while my old 2.2 single core sat around 50 normally.
- Cons: no sticker?

Highlights
 |
AMD64 Dual-core Technology AMD64 is designed to enable simultaneous 32 and 64-bit computing with no degradation in performance. With dual-core technology there are two complete processor cores in one physical package running at the same frequency to deliver TRUE multi-tasking power, allowing users to switch from one program to another without pausing for the computer to catch up and reducing annoying processing pauses.
|
 |
HyperTransport Technology HyperTransport Technology (HT or HTT) is a high-speed, low latency, point-to-point link designed to increase communication speeds between integrated circuits in computers, servers, embedded systems, and networking and telecommunications equipment. With HT technology the AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Dual-core processor enjoys 2000MHz system bus speeds.
|
 |
Enhanced Virus Protection All AMD processors equipped with AMD64 technology are Enhanced Virus Protection-enabled. Enhanced virus protection acts as a preventative measure causing viruses to be localized, short-lived, and non-contagious, eventually being flushed from system memory.
|
 |
AMD Virtualization Virtualization on desktop computers allows a single PC to act like multiple virtual machines. AMD Virtualization can enable client computers to seamlessly support multiple operating environments. And it also helps make it easier for PC enthusiasts to upgrade and maintain their PCs through emulation.
