Just like the Windsors rule England, AMD’s Windsor processors may rule the computer world. The Athlon 64 X2 6000+ runs at 3.0GHz per core, and each core’s power is bolstered by 1MB of L2 cache. The dual core architecture means multi-tasking and multi-threading without sharing clock cycles, so you get faster performance. Individual L1 and L2 caches for each core along with HyperTransport technology increase performance by giving each core a dedicated cache of memory and reducing I/O bottlenecks by increasing bandwidth and reducing latency.

The 64-bit design keeps you going now and into the future. The AMD64 technology is compatible with existing software and enables a seamless transition to the 64-bit applications of the future. This technology allows end users to take advantage of new innovations such as real-time encryption, more life-like games, accurate speech interfaces, cinema-quality graphic effects, and easy-to-use video and audio editing.

This processor is an integral part of AMD LIVE! This new feature from AMD will turn your PC into an entertainment platform second to none. Watch videos or TV in one room while streaming music into another. Your system will become a true media center with music, movies, and photos all organized and able to be shared amongst all of your connected equipment.

  • newegg AMD64 Dual-core Technology AMD64 is designed to enable simultaneous 32 and 64-bit computing with no degradation in performance. With dual-core technology there are two complete processor cores in one physical package running at the same frequency to deliver TRUE multi-tasking power, allowing users to switch from one program to another without pausing for the computer to catch up and reducing annoying processing pauses.
  • newegg HyperTransport Technology HyperTransport Technology (HT or HTT) is a high-speed, low latency, point-to-point link designed to increase communication speeds between integrated circuits in computers, servers, embedded systems, and networking and telecommunications equipment. With HT technology the AMD Athlon 64 X2 6000+ Dual-core processor enjoys 2000MHz system bus speeds.
  • newegg Enhanced Virus Protection All AMD processors equipped with AMD64 technology are Enhanced Virus Protection-enabled. Enhanced virus protection acts as a preventative measure causing viruses to be localized, short-lived, and non-contagious, eventually being flushed from system memory.
  • newegg AMD Virtualization Virtualization on desktop computers allows a single PC to act like multiple virtual machines. AMD Virtualization can enable client computers to seamlessly support multiple operating environments. And it also helps make it easier for PC enthusiasts to upgrade and maintain their PCs through emulation.
  • newegg CNQ: Cool'n'Quiet Technology AMD's Cool'n'Quiet technology is an innovative solution available on AMD Athlon 64 processor-based systems that can effectively lower power consumption and enable a quieter-running system while delivering performance-on-demand.

5 out of 5 eggsit's the gpu that counts

Pros: I own two computers with the amd 6000.

one computer is my htpc with integrated graphics and it does the job.
My other computer is primarily for photoshop and video using GTX 560ti gpu.

I tried farcry3 on ultra settings and it worked perfectly.
I could not see much difference between this and my 3570k, GTX 660ti setup.

Cons: none, it is a work horse

5 out of 5 eggsStill going strong

Pros: Bought this near the end of 2008 and it's still going strong with stock fan. I play some games but nothing fancy. It played Diablo 3, World of Warcraft, and Starcraft just fine. Of course not on the higest settings. I am also still using the original motherboard I bought this CPU. It is a ASUS M2N-E AM2 NVIDIA nForce 570. I also am using the original 4gb of memory as well. I am using a HD 5700 series video card.

Cons: If you expect what you get out of a budget build you will find no cons.

5 out of 5 eggsThe reason I buy AMD

Pros: Excellent, fast, still a viable option for a basic internet crawler, older gaming machine. Newegg continues to be my first choice!

Cons: None at all! This CPU is a brick house!

Other Thoughts: I bought this in 2007, and paired it with an Asus M2N-SLi deluxe. It ran all the way up till last year, and that was due mainly to what I believe to be a faulty PSU. It was one of AMDs best processors to date, among a string of wonderful procs. I have now owned two Athlons and a Sempron and each was wonderful for its time (Originally Tbird). I am an AMD fanboy completely at heart, AMDs have always been the better choice for the budget gamer, and although Bulldozer is a bit of a let down I look forward to AMDs dominance with the new piledriver.

5 out of 5 eggsCarried me into 2012

Pros: Affordable dual-core in its day
Runs cool and stable
Long life and still going

Cons: None

Other Thoughts: I love you AMD X2 series, it's too bad socket 939 was so short-lived, but nowadays it's a new socket every 2 years it seems. I have three X2's of different models in three machines, one being the 3800+ which is still running six years later. Sadly my next chip has to be an Ivy bridge due to Intel dominating the clock speeds, I want so badly to support AMD.

5 out of 5 eggsAwsome 3 years later still Running

Pros: This this was built as a simi budget computer and purchased almost 3 years ago today, and i realize that since it is deactivated not many people will read this, but this was my first computer i ever built and it was awesome it stood up to everything i could toss at it and now am upgrading this Christmas (my present is a fx4100) and i sure hope AMD keeps me happy like they did with this cpu. Luckily this cpu is getting reused and the computer will continue to work for years to come (going to be downgraded to a office computer no longer a gaming)

Cons: None!!!!!!!

5 out of 5 eggsGreat Quality

Pros: Normally don't write reviews, but I am building a new AMD model just because of this CPU. It has lasted me 4+ years with the stock fan (planned on getting a new one when the temp started to climb, but never did get extreme). This thing has always served me well with just a couple sticks of DDR 2 (replaced with 4 more sticks) and an geforce 7600gt (which was replaced with a 9800gt). Other than my old HDD this thing was the oldest piece of my machine. May it RIP.

Cons: Tech advances to fast and costs to much, this thing still kicks buttocks if it weren't for the bigger multy cores out there now.

Other Thoughts: AMD seems to know how to build very stable CPUs. They made me switch from Intel. Thanks AMD for being awesome.

5 out of 5 eggsIts been awhile.

Pros: Got this along time ago when it first came out. Thing is still kickin strong with stock cooler. I was gonna build a new computer, but I just upgrade to a vertex 2 SSD and now this thing is really shining. I don't think I'm gonna build a computer for awhile now.

Cons: Nothing.

5 out of 5 eggsStill works great

Pros: Still works great after about 3 years.

Cons: none!

Other Thoughts: Out of all my PC hardware it is usually the CPU's that are most robust, HD's, memory, Graphics cards all seem to have a higher failure rate.

Pros: Simply amazing cpu. I bought this card 07/2008 and it STILL handles everything I throw at it. Like the previous review, I too am building a new computer but just wanted to stop by and give this cpu some <3

Cons: It got old. ;'(

5 out of 5 eggsLong overdue

Pros: I bought this bad boy back in May 07, still running like a champ. I will soon be replacing it with a Sandy Bridge from the evil Intel, but this Windsor will always hold a place in my heart. It still holds strong, running Windows 7 and all my side programs. Well worth the money I paid 4 years ago

Cons: none

Other Thoughts: none
